a shocking event

two nights ago, a close friend of mine was robbed right in front of his house. he was in his porch closing the gate when 3 men came in with a 'parang' and threatened him.. he alerted the neighbours with by sounding the car alarm, thus the 3 men took off without taking anything, but was generous enough to have left him with severe injuries on his hands and shoulders. he is now in the hospital, badly wounded, with uncountable stitches and bandages. hope he gets well soon.

the incident really spooked me, it makes you feel that there is not a place where you will be totally safe.no..not even your own frontyard.
imagine someone taking out the garbage after dinner, and there are men waiting outside with a parang, all ready to charge in the house.. thinking of the possibilities of these dangers gives me the jitters.

there is a security patrol in my neighbourhood. it was set up by a group of concerned residents that had mutually agreed that we should not rely on the law enforcements to keep ourselves safe. it started with a simple engagement of a security company to patrol and guard the residential area. from there, they became a Residents' Association. with mom being one of the committee member. :)
the neighbourhood watch works in way that the 'taman' will have 3 guards patrolling every hour and will be guarded 24 hours. as it was agreed that the entrance to the 'taman' is fixed at one point, it is a one-way in, one-way out control. the residents have to pay a fee for the services, however it keeps their mind at ease, knowing that you can sleep peacefully at night, or at least take out your garbage at night without that fear in you. some of residents are actually complaining about the amount that is collected each month, and even made baseless accusations that the Residents' Association keeps part of it. urm, hullo? this is for your own safety, and besides the RA members are all in on a voluntary basis. my mom doesnt get paid for walking from house to house handing out flyers or whistles to the residents. is RM 80 such a big amount to part with each month, to get a peace of mind? sigh. different people have different perceptions i guess.

there is one particular resident, who refuses to follow the one way entrance, claiming that the exit is much further, so why should he take the longer way? sigh, can you believe a grown up man can have such immature thinking? well, here's the living proof.

according to mom earlier this year, DBKL wants all neighbourhood watch to be abolished.. claiming that it is illegal to fence up residential areas and set up guard houses. an appeal letter was sent to the respective parties to appeal against this order. this order has not been not actioned on yet, and if it does, we will need to comply to the law.but just a thought, what if every neighbourhood is not guarded by their own patrol guards.. who are we goin to rely on to keep us safe?

disastrous

it was a major disaster. a few clicks and i ruined it.

was trying to fit in a new template for my blog, downloaded a nice looking one and tried to use it... due to my insufficient skills in editing HTML and such... my whole blog layout went hay wire.. and it never turn out to be the one i wanted.

out of desperation, i deleted the blog, and reposted everything.. my 3 months of posts, all in 20 mins..sigh.. and i lost the comments as well. sighh

in the middle of creating the new page, as i was picking a template.. i looked at the green one which i used originally, and it still looked the best.. but i did not pick it, cos it'll be totally dumb as that was the one i tried to change from.. sigh

guess i'm not so tech savvy after all..

in a daze

so much has happened these 2 weeks. i feel like i dun have time to stop and breathe.. kinda sounds like my own version of stop and stare. btw, i love that sound. can't seem to get it out of my mind.

Last whole week has been a tiring week with all the training going on, and had lotsa complicated discussions. both work and non work. sigh.. someone made me wonder if all guys have gone a lil more mushy than girls.. or am i the one with the big change?

managed to unwind a bit over the weekend, startin with Friday nite. catched up with an old friend, had dinner and drinks. Saturday was a quite day at home, was watching series the whole morning and in the afternoon was supposed to go help out as a volunteer with Tzu-Chi at Jusco Kepong. was there with my mom and sis, only to find out they don't really need help at Jusco as they have enough volunteers. ooh.. just to clear things up, they were collecting funds for the victims of the SiChuan earthquake. the most tragic topic lately. Volunteered to help them at their door-to-door funds collection this weekend though. They also have donation drives at markets and pasar malams.
It's a good thing. I should be keeping in touch with them more often, catching up where i left my voluntary work few years back.

Had an early start on Sunday, got up early to do some chores - cleaning, laundry, etc. Then, we left for Bentong bout 10am. Have decided to try the ever famous wan tan mee at Yuen Kee. Waited bout 30 minutes before they plopped down 6 bowl of messy looking noodles on our table.Nevertheless, the wait was worth it, as it was really good ! Have not had a good bowl/ plate wan tan mee for some time already.

Back at Grandma's house, i started to work on my report, will be having a post-mortem for the training that I've been attending on Monday morning. I started writing and writing.. until my cousin sis came in to chat with me. We catched up a lot of the past, bout how we lost my cousin bro in an accident, bout how she was treated by her MIL.. at the end, it left me tearing up. then i was saved by the bell. The ice-cream man ! :)

It was really a slow and lazy day in Bentong.. love how peaceful it gets at grandma's place. it has always been no 1 on my get-away list.. peace and quiet, cold breezy weather, and grandma's 'cincai' but absolutely yummy food. what else can i ask for? (best of all, no hotel charges ! :P)

so if i go missing for a week or two.. that's probably the first place you want to look. that is IF you are looking..

the long weekend

it's been such a long weekend..

been down to seremban, and met up with some dear friends, met some new friends and the next thing i know.. it was Monday already.. it's a good thing Monday was a public holiday ! yay!
haha the best things for a working person.. public holidays on a weekday ! :P

It's been such a long day... today is the 2nd day of training. Been attending a Foundation Level Management Course at Renaissance. Very informative and lotsa fresh ideas come in.. but.. 9 - 6pm.. is a killer ler. It's quite an eye opener cos I get to meet Assistant Managers from offices all across APAC. Very interesting and and aggressive bunch of people.

Well, now it's time for me to leave .. darn tired...

can't wait for Kuantan trip.. provided my leave application is approved.. sigh

thought of the day : would i be a good salesperson?

Cravings

had a sudden craving for nasi lemak, and the next thing i know, my feet was taking me to the stall in front of Wisma Jerneh, to get the a dose of drug to cure my craving.

It was a pack of many good things.. the steaming hot rice, with alongside with the crunchy peanuts and anchovies that i love, fresh sweet cucumber, and a dash of the slightly sweet and spicy sambal... it was just sinful. have decided to add in a 'telur goreng' today.. it was just nice, unlike some stalls which have their fried eggs, swimming in a puddle of oil . sometimes i think the oil is actually enough to fry more eggs ! LOL

the sambal did not help at all for my already sore throat and raspy voice. but oh well, who cares ! :P
never really bothered to 'kai hou' ( refrain from eating certain food when you are sick), Eg, to avoid cold drinks when you are coughing, avoid fried food, avoid fruits( what??) and so on. i know most of the dos and don'ts, and i tell them to people all the time, i just don't practise it. haha.
And the next person who tells me eating too much durian will result in a sorethroat, i will tell them, it never happens to me..or any of my family members.. we grew up eating durians.muahaha..

oh dear, it's 8.31am de.. back to training today. will frighten the new girls with my extreme coughing... ahem ahem ahem...

hot and cold..

I'm sunburnt and down with a flu.

sniff sniff.. susahnya..

it was suppose to be a very relaxing weekend by the sea.. but i'm so so tired now. but that doesnt mean it was a bad weekend. It was really great !

A relaxing day at the seaside, with the sun and sand.. and the waves crashing to the shore .. what more can i ask for. made my very first sandcastle..( yeah, i never did that when i was young!) was walking along the shore, and saw this little girl with her play set.. as she got up and walked to the water, we asked the nice lady sitting there if we can 'pinjam' her toys. then we started building a castle with forts around it and a nice deep moat around it. unfortunately, our castle was build on the grounds, where the sand is completely dry.. so it will take tonnes of water to fill up my deeply dugged moat ! ish !!
shall post up the picture of my accomplishment later.

the next day was a completely different outing..we made our way to Eagle Ranch Resort.. it is located on the far end of Port Dickson. it took us about 30 mins bus ride from Bayu Beach where we were staying.

The moment you step in the resort.. you find yourself greeted by log cabins, bandwagons, bullock carts and many more items from the cowboy era. It was really cool. even the signboards were in typical wooden designs.

Among the accomodation choices one can have at Eagle Ranch are the tepees, kampung house, paddock dormitories, log cabins and bandwagons. There are even huts by the forest meant for people who are keen on camping.

Our tepee was actually a room disguised under a tepee - some sorta like a Red Indian totem. Once you step in, you find the walls finished with planks, oil lamps as bedlights, and the TV rest on a brick stand. A wooden door opens to the toilet which is another unique feature, it is partially open air - meaning you will be showering under the stars and the watchful eyes of the night creatures !

The package we selected came along with activities such as horse riding, canoeing, and archery. It was a fun time doing all these as it is something different from the usual hotel experience. It was my first time at archery, and though it was just 10 arrows.. my hands were tired already. hmm.. not so easy to be Robin Hood after all ! horse riding was ok, as it was a guided 2 rounds at the stable. Canoeing was fun.. but.. it was kinda gross after some time, as it was in the fish pond, and the water was kinda dirty, but we enjoyer chasing the ducks swimming in the pond.

We decided to give Go-Kart a try, it wasnt included in the package, so we paid RM 20 for 5 laps - which i think it's pretty ok. Was a little nervous, as my driving skills are realy doubtful, apatah lagi to drive a go-kart !! but as i went on my 3rd lap.. i just lurve it ! I realised that i like the excitement from the speed and the noise !

All good things has to come to an end.. as we checked out from the resort and left Port Dickson. It was a long way home on the bus and KTM.. but it was all worth it.
Can't wait to receive the pics..

and for now.. 2 panadols and lotsa sleep will be the best medicine.

thought for now : should i suggest Eagle Ranch for department activity? hmm.

Monday

urgh. i can still feel my fusili carbonara sitting in my stomach. so much for it being a vegetarian option as it was loaded with lotsa cream and cheese. I picked that cos i tot of giving myself a break from all the chicken i ate over the weekend.

a recap of my chicken MEALS :-
Lunch -XXL chicken from Shihlin
Predinner-Zinger burger from KFC
Supper -Roast teriyaki chicken from Jusco

Lunch @ Watering hole, Eagle Ranch Resort -Claypot Chicken Rice
Dinner @ Watering hole, Eagle Ranch Resort - Chicken chop

had lunch @ Zen Cafe in Pavilion. I would rate their food as ok, but the service couldn't get any slower. there were only 4 of us in the entire restaurant, but they took forever to prepare out food. gosh..

It's a slow and quiet day at work, popped in for training for a while, and then back at my desk, and down to Level 12 a few times to settle some stuff with HR dept.

A lil ambitious it might sound, but .. i just can't wait for the weekend. haha. Am having a family get together to celebrate Mothers' Day back in Bentong. Apparently, Dad suggested to do potluck this time.. and mom says to bring my chocolate cake.. mmm.. can't wait.

thought for now: should i go for dinner with the gang later?

it was a Grrreat Weekend

A colleague's wedding and a BBQ get-together at Karyn's place !

It was a colourful and HOT wedding. the sun was out and high.. well, looking on the bright side, a sunny day is better than a rainy one. Rain just spoils celebration..

We did a convoy of 4 cars to Bandar Baru Bangi to see our dear colleague , Yati. It is true that they say a bride is always the prettiest.. she was such a doll ! Although it wasnt my first time attending a Malay wedding, it's the first where I get to participate in part of the ceremony. All of us queued up to take turns with the 'merenjis air mawar' bit. and then all gathered on the "pelamin' for a group picture with the lovely bride and groom.
For lunch, it was a simple but yummy fare of nasi minyak, rendang, ayam masak merah and vegetables. Much simpler compared to the chinese style of buffet or 10 course dinner.
We left the wedding bout 2pm, after receiving our 'berkat' which is a small doorgift for the guests.

With Zhabo's driving, she got us back to Kepong in no time!At Carrefour,we got the ingredients for our Mashed Potato, Fruit Salad and ambitiously a chocolate cake ! ( obviously, that didn't happen)
With the women shopping style, we only got home bout 5.30, so much for the thought of resting a while before we start slaving in the kitchen.
We worked non stop for 2 hours in the kitchen, well actually the 2 women took an hour just to mash the potatoes.. tsk tsk tsk. and constantly arguing if they should add milk or butter. and in the end, they added both, plus mayonaise. hmm.. it was really a eat at your own risk dish !

Reached Karyn's house at 8+, and the food was all sizzling on the pit. yum ! after the rounds and rounds of food out came the Bailey's, Vodka, and Malibu. and the rest was history ! Someone was the main star for the night.. hehe.

It was a great get together, and everyone had lotsa fun.. well i did. and lotsa colour on my face as well.. Darn..and ppl think i'm drunk already.

got home at 3am, and terus tumbang on my bed d.. of cos.. i dragged myself to the showers first.

thought of the day : why is everyone getting married already?

Do you tell your other half EVERYTHING?

I was in the car, on my way to work, when Simon & Caroline from Light FM was debating on this topic. Immediately, thoughts entered my head.

The next day, at the same time, they did a recap of the same topic.. and it got me pondering on this topic.

What do you tell and what do you not tell? i guess different people have different opinions as to if honesty is the best policy. some people hide details, becos they hold on to the policy that some things are better left unsaid. Well, i guess when both person has establish a strong trust between each other, not everything has to be questioned.

where's your stand?

The weekend

The weekend has been a fast and slow weekend. Saturday was a quiet day of chores and reading. was very caught up in my book, and read two thirds of my book by bed time. it was a very quiet night, everyone has gone to bed early as we have to wake up at 6am the next day to make our way back to Bentong.
called JM, and spoke to him for a while. the conversation was very light and casual, and it was good. many thoughts bout us loomed into my head, and then i fell asleep.
Rise and shine ! at 5.44am ? what? my sissy is unbelievable, in the early morning, she assumes the role of a commando, and wakes EVERYONE with a loud " wake up lar !! " lazily, i dragged myself out of bed and into the showers.. the cold water did more than just wake me up, it got me shivering and goosebumps all over too ! we got ourselves into the car and left home at 6am. well, not that Bentong was that far away, but we have to get there by 8am, plus wanna redeem the Sausage McMuffin at the drive-thru McD. as bro drove off, i dozed off in the car, yeah as usual.
Reached Bentong a little past 7, gathered at this kopitiam, we all had a cuppa 'teh' while waiting for the rest to arrive. We are going to the cemetery for the pay respects to the ancestors. Urm.. not exactly Qing Ming, as that was way passed the date d. It's just a yearly ritual to gather all the family members, and i mean ALL who share the same surname. so you can imagine, it's a big group. Made our way up to the hill, Bentong Hill, as it is commonly known as. Lead by the older generation relatives, we paid respects and burned incense with food offerings. There were 2 spots that we needed to make a stop. One was a 'common' ground, it ain't exactly a grave, but more like a monument erected to 'jaga' the whole cemetery. ok i know all this sounds a bit off, but i can't think of a better way to describe it ! haha Then, we drove up to the higher grounds, where our 崔(Cuī)graves are. , unlike how we all view cemeteries, It wasnt a scary place to be at all. it was rather a happy event. there was firecrackers, the whole roasted pig, lotsa lotsa pau, and fruits. they even gave out angpau at the end.

We went for brunch at 11am, and then for early dinner at 3pm. yeah.. dinner at 3pm. there were lucky draws and presents for everyone.

the modern generation will sometimes find these events very old-fashioned, and crowded with old people.however, i think it is important how by attending events like this, we are aware of who's who in the family. be it a relative or some elderly figure in the 'clan'.
hmm.. did i say this becos i'm growing old myself? gosh !

thought of the day : must you bring your assignments to a dinner? gosh...

my book

have finally got the book.
Thanks to a friend who is working in Kinokuniya. she got it for me with 20% discount. then again, they are having a promotion on selected titles, you are entitled to 20% off with the purchase of an item of any value. So if you have a book you have been eyeing for, this is the time to get it.

Already on Chapter 10 of my book.. the only reason to put it away, are my heavy eyelids, shuttin down on me.and work of cos..

thought for now: i wonder if i can write a book too someday.

the irony of things

yay! it's friday tomorrow ! finally. Friday is my favourite day of the week, cos it's the last day of working week, and it's casual wear at work. however, i kinda dread it as well, as there are a lot of catching up and leftovers to follow up, have to"chap sau mei" as i hate attending to it on a Monday Morning.

the days seems to be flying by this week, but ironically the clock seems to be ticking extra slow everyday, and i find myself waiting impatiently for 5.30 each day.

Yesterday I left work 5 mins past 5.30 as we were rushing to KLCC to collect our movie tickets. Darn TGV system, the e-ticketing was not working, thus we had get to the cineplex to collect our tickets or the reservation will be cancelled. totally forgot bout bringing another pair of shoes, i walked there or more like zoomed there in my new pair of working shoes. by the time i was in KLCC, i can't really feel my toes anymore !

as there was still time , woman-beside-me and I walked around Isetan supermarket, thinking of the food we shud smuggle in. In the end we settled for a ham and cheese sandwich from Sun Moulin - they have some of my favs pastries, a bag of chips and a soft drink. hehe.. a wholesome meal we call it.

we watched 27 dresses. and there was not a thing that i didn't like about the movie. okay, mayb Jane's baby sister. she is so self-absorbed, and selfish.
Undeniably, it is a chick-flick, however, it was a movie that left me close to tears. the emotional loops that Jane went thru, i totally know how she felt. all in all, it was a good one! go watch it if you have not catch it yet.

After the movie, we headed back, with me still feeling emo, and non-stop blabbering to the woman. poor her.. hehe

The hair cut

yes i did..@ kimarie in Times Sqaure..

big regret.. cos it looks so awful. there's this thing bout me that i will keep quite the entire time whe n the person is cutting my hair.. thus.. not expressing the fact that i wasnt totally happy with the way i looked halfway thru the haircut.

sighh.. wish i did now.

I am not a pink person

someone made a comment on my pink purse and pink handphone..and even suggested that i should get a pink iPod. What ?? now now.. i am NOT a pink person. it is strictly a coincidence that the two most important items that i have with me are pink in colour. it's not that i dun like pink, but i think it's a bit too girly for me. haha. (and now i remembered that i just bought a pink handbag last month !)

speaking bout the colour, now i remember something, or more like someone.. i was in mid valley on saturday and at the KTM platform, i saw a girl dressed in bright pink pants, and a lighter shade pink blouse, and she was carrrying a pink tote bag, which was exactly the same shade as her bag.. talk about being colour coordinated !

over the weekend, i spent some quality time with myself. it's called ME time.. no ..not Marcus Evans, as if 5days of it aint enuf ! I had breakfast with my bro and sis, then kick off to the gym. semangat leh? After gym and a quick lunch, i went to MPH to pick up some good reads..

totally fell in love with this particular book, and now just waiting to get my hands on it - am waiting for my friend who works in Kinokuniya to buy it for me with a staff discount. hehe

oh crap it's 7+ de, better make my move and get my bum out of this office..

thought for now: should i go cut my hair in times square or head home?

on a sunday

am feeling kinda rotten at the moment. but i dunno what is it that stirred this current feeling, is it the disturbing emotional conflicts from the series last nite which i totally relate to it, or is it his blardy attitude this morning, or is it just the stress from the expectations to perform at work?

was up till 5 am this morning. determined to finish up my " tak tak dei" which was long forgotten. was quite an achievement as i watched 5 hours of it without falling asleep.. ok ok , just a doze in between towards the last 2 episodes. to those who knows me well, i fall asleep in front of the tv very much.. haha. or even in the cinemas.
it was the emotional conflicts of "sheong joi sum" and Alfred in the series that got me crying and cying. after some time, i din know if i was crying becos of the scenes, or was it becos i was relating it to my own situations. at 5am, i turned off the tv, and went back in my room to sleep. that's it. it was too much to digest d. will continue watching today. just 3 more to go.
watching the couple in this series record their ups and downs in their daily life reminded me that i have long forgotten about my diary. i used to share every juicy bit with her. Her being my diary of cos. the habit of keeping one started when i was in Standard One. Mom encouraged it, it will help my writing skills was one of the reason. I think it kinda did, not so much on the grammar part.. *gulp* but more on the part where i have learnt to express myself in writing. another reason of me keeping one, i want to have a record of the bitter and sweet memories that i have had. will be a good read when i am old and wrinkly. i know i will laugh at how silly i once was. .

tomorrow is Monday. how i dread Mondays now.. am still adapting to new tasks at work, and having doubts bout my own capabilities. looking at it, and thinkin bout the other responsibilities that i had back in uni and high school.. this shouldn't be too hard.. i've worked with bigger teams, and heavier burdens, and i managed all of it.. but this time, i'm really hard on myself, probably it's the expectations that is coming from above.. and more like the expectations i think there are on me.. sigh. sometimes, the harder u try not to screw up things, the more you have the tendency to do it. let's just hope i wont..
we'll just see tomorrow, when the training starts. sigh

it's pass 12, and i have tons of things to do.
to clean my room , finish my series, iron work clothes, prepare for training, do my laundry, and the list goes on.
i'll try..

thought for now : should i treat myself to banana leaf rice from Kanna Curry House? hrmm..

Hangover

sigh.. it's been such a tiring week.

Recovering from the exciting 2 weeks with SY in Msia. Since the trip to Malacca, we did not stop eating until the Friday that she flew back to Korea ! gosh, that was a lot of weight gained, mind you and, many late nite out. well, late as in 12-1am.. that's considered late cos we still have to work the next day !

It was quite a 2 weeks for her, cos we were trying to fit in as many activities as possible into her time ! It was great that she loves scouting for food too ! just realised that is was quite a long list of good food places that we went to.
among the long list of food that we ate :

  • Banana Leaf Rice @ Estana
  • Pan Mee @ Bkt bintang
  • Makan-makan @ Jln Alor
  • Granny wan tan mee@ Jonker St
  • chendol @ jonker 88, Malacca
  • chicken rice balls @ hoe kee, Malacca
  • Satay celup @ Ban Lee Hiang
  • Bak kut Teh @ Kepong
  • Steamboat@ Kepong
  • Porridge@ Jln Ipoh
  • Dim sum @ jln ipoh

we actually went to many more places.. but these are the better ones! haha

It was really a fun week, as we even made 2 trips to Desa ParkCity in the late evening, and one late at night. Really lurvee the park wei!

The week ended with a good drinks session @Bangkok Jazz..

and now..back to work.. extra responsibilities and extra tasks.. aiks.

the zoo

Let's go to the zoo, there's a lot of things to do.

that's how most of us will remember it.. the jingle from a KFC ad long before your time. gosh, am speaking like an old woman d! haha. It's one of those 'pupus-ed' item from my childhood days, where they made funny and SIMPLE cartoons. I'm not saying that the cartoons of today are not funny, but somehow a lot of it has lost the childish touch.. it either involves a lot of canggih acts or totally weird characters. To name a few of the canggih ones - Totally Spies, Powerpuff girls, Jimmy Neutron. and the weird ones - CatDog -a cartoon about a creature which is a cat on one end of the body, and a dog on the other end of the body. WHAT?? , Oggy & the Cockroaches - about a cat trying to chase away the few roaches in his house. gosh.. whatever happened to simple 'ol Mickey Mouse and Looney Tunes? Not that i don't enjoy the modern day cartoons, but somehow it is not as enjoyable as the ones i used to watch when i was young.

back to the zoo bit, I went to the Zoo on Sunday. it was a very last minute decision to bring SY there, it was just the 2 of us and Steve - he insisted we call him that. It sounded like a great idea when he suggested that we head to the zoo, for a more leisure outing, the fact that we had an extreme day in Malacca the day before. called ZhaBo and wanted to ask her along.. but... she wasnt up till 4pm..
the great idea turned bad when it started to pour while we were watching the animal show. The show went on and the crowd did not disperse till the end of the show. The actors for the day was a seal, and a sea lion. what's their differences? shall Google that later.
Was wet and hungry, that's when we decided to make a run for the fastfood restaurant in the Zoo. it was called The Wild.. and it was.. urghhh.. that explains all. what happened to KFC ? sigh..

All in all, it was an ok outing. the thought of visiting the zoo was nice, cos it has been a long time since the last time i was there. i think it was like a decade ago. but.. the maintenance of our Zoo Negara was a total disappointment.

After the zoo outing, we picked up Zha Bo from her house, - which she didn't know the address until 10 mins before we got there! gosh.. then we went to bandar menjalara for steamboat, satay, and siew kai yik. After the heavy meal, steve dropped me home first.. but.. the pasar malam in Kepong Baru caught our eye.. and the next thing we know, the car was parked.. and we went down for a walk. haha. SY was the happiest cos she stumbled upon this stall that sells dry coconut and she bought 6 packets ! hehe, glad we made that stop after all. Went home at 11+, showered and slept straight away. the next day have to work la...

thought of the day : what's the difference between a jaguar, cheetah, panther, leopard.. and a puma?

One day trip to the historical city

It was an awesome trip ! that kinda sums up everything !

Well a picture speaks a thousand words.. so shall post some and talk less. haha
The trip started off with us gathering at 8.30am, but only made our way at 8.45am cos someone was late. haha.

With Zha Bo's excellent driving, it only took us an hour plus to reach Malacca, that's where all the eating and cam whoring started. For ZhaBo, it was a lot of walking !!

Started off with Granny's wan tan mee,

then to Cheng Hoon Teng temple, the oldest temple in Malaysia.. it has a much newer appearance after the a new coat of paint and some refurbishment.

The weather was so hot that we had to stop for some "leong sui"

More walking and dodol shopping for us, Zha Bo was so obsessed with it, that we did 3 rounds on jonker to get her "pandan dodoi ". Went for a short trishaw ride, from A Famosa to Jonker St. It was everyone's first time and it was a colourful and loud one, as the bikes were equipped with CD players, for you to pump it with your favourite tunes!

After that it was chicken rice balls for everyone ! It's a must-eat in Malacca, and not forgetting the Satay celup, and the goodies from Jonker Street.

After dinner, we dropped Woman beside at Melaka Sentral, we all went down to the bus platform to make sure that she got on the correct bus back to Kluang! Don't want her to be making another diversion.hehe

supposed to head back to KL, but somehow we ended up on Jonker Street again !! This time, i finally get to watch the coconut breaking act !There is this man who performs on Jonker St every Saturday nite, with the level of Qi-gong he practises, he can pierce through the coconut with his index finger. geng-leh? and he sells "tit-ta jau" as well, medicated oil that is. There's actually quite a lot of people buying from him, i think there shud be bout 30bottles sold each nite! and each bottle is RM 10. good money huh? hehe

After the show, we finally head back to the car and drove back to KL. Reached home past midnight, hit the showers and went straight to bed. Sy and I fell asleep in no time..

phew.. what a day..

it all started with Friday

Had an eventful weekend. It all started with the visit to Petaling St..

Was sittin in a discussion at 5pm, and it was still raining.. sigh. pouring like mad actually..there goes our plan.. what a way to end a working week.

The plan was to head to Chinatown, well Petaling St to be exact.. wanted to bring Soon Young there for a taste of local food and some shopping.

Finally the rain stopped at 6pm, we hopped on cute lil zha bo's car and headed to Petaling St.. traffic was practically crawling, from Pavilion down Jln Bukit Bintang. the 30 mins in the car was put to good use as we taught Soon Young all the lahs, lohs, mars and mehs.. everyone was left in stitches as we went out chatting in the car. Ah, Manglish.. it's just so impressive how we managed to differentiate the usage of each suffix. and the results.. a very amusing language.

woman-beside-me was on her way to Puduraya to catch a bus back to her Bat-City ( Kluang), therefore not able to follow us to Malacca the next day. However, cute-lil-zha-bo managed to persuade woman-beside-me to postpone her trip back to Saturday, and to leave from Malacca to Johor instead. that way she gets to join in the fun ! yay! that was a brilliant idea.

After 45 mins of traffic jam, we got to Petaling St. we were so starving that we decided to give this roadside bak kut teh a try, plus this hokkien mee stall next to it looks pretty tempting. Ordered my favourite ying-yong and a fried pan mee. yum ! ( according to soon young - our nice korean friend) . The dinner was so good that we had the company of a rat that was finding it's way back to the set of Ratatouille ! yikes.. Cute-lil-zha-bo refused to put her leg down after that. muahaha

After dinner, we headed down to brightly lit Chinatown, our first stop was Tau-Foo Fah. Soon young went " sweet tofu ??" .. yeah, our m'sian food is just amazing. The damage for the day was 3 pairs of Mickey Mouse shoes - each of us got a pair except for zha-bo who claims that she owns many pairs of sport shoes already, a new pair of sunnies and a T-shirt for me.

At 10pm, we all head home, need to be well rested for our malacca trip !

awful

just got off the phone. am feeling awful.. that unresolved conversation.. and unreplied message.

why was i so affected by that statement.. am i not always defending myself about that?

it has been a long and unproductive day.. the only thing that kept me goin was the the trip at the end of this week. we are heading to the Malacca - the historical city, i must have been there umpteenth times, to know exactly which nook and cranny to search for good food.. from the chicken rice balls to the best chendol in town. yum!

can't wait. we are just 1 day away !

Good news or bad news?

When a piece of news (if that is the correct collective noun) is delivered to you, you sometimes wonder if it’s good or bad news.
At the beginning, when I first heard it, it sounded like really good news, but when I really think bout it, and whatever entails. It sounds a lil scary. It’s the extra jitters that come with it. Sigh
Am in deep thoughts about the matter. That’s me, am definitely capable of letting it bother me for the whole day. At times when I’m paranoid bout something, it stays with me the whole day, and I get really distracted at work.

Change - an event that occurs when something passes from one state or phase to another.

I believe this is a common fear in many people, and sometimes, I find it in me too. The thought of going to a new place, a new environment and new faces, thrills me, however, at the back of my mind.. I'm worried.. The thought of being in a comfort zone struck me these few days.. Realized that as much as I want to venture out to the world and seek new challenges, I tend to get comfy with what I have and what I’m doing at the moment. A friend once told me, just do it. If you never take the first step, you will never make a change. And another said, if you know what to do, and what is right, what is stopping you?

Exactly, what is stopping me? I can only answer : I dunno..
In the past few months, this phrase has been my favorite respond. Sometimes I wonder if I say it becos I really don't know.. or I simply wan to run away from what I know..

I am still seeking..

And craving for a nice cold beer...since the F1 race on sunday.

post monday blues

Yeah, am still feeling that.

" tot it only happens on monday ? " yeah, that's why it's called POST monday blues.

Over the weekend, met up with my sapo ji mui from uni,her sis and a dear friend.Met up in Mid Valley and had the long forgotten Chilli's. It's been ages since i had that.. yum yum. my all time favourite has got to be the Triple Play. although an entree, i usually have just that. We ordered a tad too much food though, one each, plus a Classic Nachos for starters.. oh, not to mention the Bottomless Nachos that was filling us up while our 5 fickle minds decide what to eat and drink.

It was a really great dinner, lotsa catchin up to do,and candid moments to snap. After dinner, sapo has to head back to Seremban via KTM..on the way to the exit, we passed by Vincci, well, what else, " i go in and have a look ya" , and she came out with a pair of nice pumps for only 25 bucks. it was initally on 50% discount, thus 40+ for the shoes, but we detected a slight damage at the side of the shoes, they sold it to her at 70 % off! that's a bargain, and the defect aint so bad.it was just a loose thread, just go back and snip it off ler..

Bargain for the day! yay!

After they left, JM and I headed to the Jusco supermarket to grab some food for tomorrow. We're goin for Formula One !! It's my first time to the race ! Was kinda excited over it, but it was nothing compared to the feeling of actually being there and hearing the vroomss from the circuit !

Left for Sepang early Sunday morning, got there about 1pm. The sun was scorching, and there were flocks of people, not to mention lotsa skin on show. hehe. spotted some hunks.. :P
Made our way to the covered hill area, found a nice spot right under the shade, and waited patiently for the race to start. It was a good thing that the grass aint wet anymore as it was raining heavily the day before. then again probably it wasnt raining in Sepang.
I was getting really restless, sitting there waiting for some action.. should have brought a book to read and a proper mat to sit on. We did get some ice lollies, it was priced at RM5 each.. talk about pure profit. The normal price for the " traffic light" was only RM1.50 leh.

a thundering noise marks the start of the race.. and seconds later, the bright red Ferraris was zooming pass us.. wahh... i was really excited then..the noise and the heat.. the feeling was really awesome. stood up and walked much nearer to the fence, wanted to take some shots of the cars as well. halfway thru the race,we actually got up and walked to the other side of the hill where there's a lil bit more action. hehe. JM was expecting a crash to happen, and it did. The Ferrari crash was just right in front of our eyes.. well not literally, people got up and flock to the side to witness it.. but i just sat where i was and enjoyed the race..

It all ended at bout 4+, and we made out way to the car, had our sandwiches and orange juice. yummy.. after a whole day of heat treatment. It took us about an hour just to get out of Sepang, and another hour to get back to Kepong.. all thanks to the wrong junction we took, we ended up in Mt Kiara, and then all the way back to KL, then back to Kepong. phew.. it started pouring then. sigh. by 9 i was back home, showered and comfortably snuggled into my bed..it's been such a tiring weekend.. but a good one. Thanks to all my dearies.. I had a really good time.

monday blues

sigh, it's Monday again..

Have not fully recover from my fully packed weekend. It all started on Friday, met up with Jun Ming for dinner. He waited for me at Kelana Jaya LRT station, and the traffic was crawling, then again, what's new? it's Friday and it's raining. Headed to The Curve, and already thinking what to have for dinner. There were a few favourites lurking in the back of our minds.. After 20 minutes of walking up and down The Street, and countless of times saying " you decide-la" , we ended up at Thai Express. Almost went to Sakae Sushi as we both love Jap, but we kept to the promise that the next time we eat out, we have to try something new and not go back to our usual faves. Among the ones we considered was this Indonesian Warong Penyet, where they served "flattened chicken" with chili sauce and rice.

Dropped by Ikea to get a spatula. I broke mine when i was mixing this very sticky batter. haha. Chose a black and white one over the usual red and white design. it's looks a bit more cool. Am waiting to complete my baking utensils collection - next on the list will be a quiche pan, cups for cheese tarts, and most wanted , a digital kitchen scale. Trace's mom has one, and it's so cool.

Headed to Desa Park City Waterfront for a drink, wanted to get a cup of coffee to go with our Big Apple donuts, but we were not very keen on CoffeeBean drinks, so took a walk in the park instead. Always, always wanted to bermain-main in this playground, cos it's one of the coolest playground i've seen around here. they have this big hanging trampoline thingy, which doubles as a swing. all you have to do is jump on it and get someone to sway it. yay ! and there there is this modern looking architecture, where you can sit on the metal bar, and it can spin around.. woo hoo that was really fun. one of the equipment there looks like a skateboard, but on a rail where it can sway left and right on a semi circle rail. whatever happen to the conventional swings and slides. even the slides here look pretty cool !

Took a long walk in the park and sat down to a long chat, lotsa catching up to do. It was a lovely night, very breezy and the view was just beautiful, from where we were sitting, we can see the whole of Desa Park City, and the half-filled lake.. ( it is yet to be completed.)

After a nice dinner and walk, he dropped me home... boy was i glad to see my bed, a quick shower and off i doze...

Tomorrow is a holiday

Tomorrow is a holiday

Just got back from KLCC, watched a movie with Woman beside me and cute lil Zha Bo. We watched Ah Long Pte Ltd. The movie is about Ah Longs aka loan sharks in our society. It's a pretty entertaining movie, with the usual crew from Jack Neo's movies.Mark Lee plays a sissy who hates being called one, while Fann Wong plays the tai kar che for a well known triad gang. The movie was actually filmed in KL. well, with my office located right in Bkt Bintang,it took me no time to notice the familiar locations in the movie.Namely Jln Imbi andBerjaya Times Square.
There was a scene in the movie which was so well written that it stirred the most impressive effect among the audience- a moment of total silence.During that scene, as every single audience was anticipating the next thing that is goin to happen ( which is a matter of life and death no worries, no spoilers ahead), the whole cineplex just went pin drop silence. i can almost just hear everyone's breathing. All in a all, it was a great watch, and definitely a good way to end a pre-public holiday.

Went to Genki Sushi after the movie, wah.. it's been so long since i ate sushi. it was just so so good. we indulged n sushi and green tea while we joked about the Fireman. He is being extremely childish and funny today. So him..
Woman beside me and I left KLCC and reached home bout 11pm. Boy am i tired.. feel like sleeping now but there are so many other things that i feel like doin tonite, especially when i dun have to wake up early tmr morning.
yippee !! lurve it when a Public Holiday falls on a weekday! :)

Tonight, I'm planning on catching up on the TV series that I have only watched till episode 6 and The OC season 3 which i have 2 more episodes to watch. but for now.. to the showers i head..

Finally

19 March 2008

Been thinking about this for a long long time. Thanks to my newly acquired skill ever since i started working - the art of procrastination. ( my boss better not be reading this). Been blaming that for everything that i have missed - a phone call to my besties to catch up with them; my outdated multiply website; the already forgotten friendster and the stack of papers and bills on my desk. they have been sitting there since forever. sigh

writing reminds me of my days in uni, back then i had lotsa free time in hand to actually sit down and put down my all thoughts..with my PC right in front of me and of cos it being connected to the Internet all the time. ( except the lousy times when they are doing server maintenance !)

Being at work, evrything is so different. so many things to do, so many things to think of, and so little time to sleep.. and sometimes i feel like the activities in my mind doesnt stop even when i'm sleeping. just the other night, i dreamt bout work.. gosh.. what a nightmare..

but oh well, that's how life goes..

Good night for now..
