Ginger rice wine noodles

Head over to Imbi market for a bowl of heart warming noodles. You can opt for the usual meehoon or order it with mee sua. Served in a unique square bowl, paired with finely cut cili padi - this bowl of noodles will have you sweating in no time!
Priced at RM7.50 for single portion, it is slightly more expensive than your usual bowl of noodles.  But Aunty doesn't skimp on the ingredients too, noodles topped with lotsa egg, ginger, pork slices and prawn - it will keep you filled up all the way till lunch time.

Pigging out..

Happy New Year 2013 ! 2 months late to wish this, but this is after all the first post for year 2013. One of my new year resolutions that I have written down on some piece of paper is to update my blog more often - at least with the food pictures that I insist of snapping before every meal. ( Now I have to find my piece of paper with my resolutions on it! (>_<)

Last night, we went to 3 Little Pigs and The Big Bad Wolf, in Bangsar Village. This is our second visit for the week, as we were just there on Saturday, celebrating Brandon's birthday. I like the simplicity of the menu, the coziness of the room and most of all, the porky goodness! In 2 separate visits, these are the pictures that I have taken.. Let them speak for themselves.

Pork Knuckle RM98 ( Enough to feed 2 -3 pax)

 Big Bad Burger

Grilled Pork Pesto Pasta (RM27)
Pork Lover's Aglio Olio (RM27)

  The Wolf’s Favourite ( RM27)

Roast Pork Rice (RM19)

There are a few more items on the menu that I will like to try. I will keep some space for desserts the next time, the Deep-Fried Mars bar looks interesting. By the way, their Happy Hour starts from 9pm onwards, a pint of Hoegaarden is going for RM20.00 only.
So,  in my best imitation of Arnold Schwarzenegger... I  will be back!

Backdated: 26 October 2011 - Sage, Gardens

This is almost ancient. Blame it on the increasing dose of laziness I have been drinking.

This was back in October 2011, on my birthday which I fell sick. In the morning, I woke up feeling sluggish. Switching from hot and cold, and vice versa, my birthday was almost spoiled. After breakfast, I slept with a cold towel, until it was supposedly lunch time. We made plans to have Japanese buffet at Gonbei, Starhill, using a promo that darling bought some time back. Not wanting to spoil the lunch plans, I dragged myself out from bed, showered and changed. As he drove down to KL, he missed the junction to Jln Sultan Ismail, which is the right way to
Bkt Bintang.

I: "Hey, you missed the turning."
He: "Aah, we are not going to Gonbei today."
I: " Hrmm.. where are we going?"
He: " Somewhere nice which you and I like"
Turning into Mid Valley City, I exclaimed!
I: "Sage! That's where you are bringing me.Right?"
He: "Smart girl, that's where we are having lunch today"

It was a lovely treat, and being sick didn't stop me from having a good lunch. Thank you for the suprise darling ♥

For now, I will let the pictures speak itself...

The menu

Freshly baked bread with pesto dip

Homemade Tagliotini Pasta
with Pacific Oyster and Parmesan cheese

Slow cooked Smoked Salmon
with Mousseline of Cauliflower and Ikura

Herbs crusted Lamb Rack
with Dauphinoise Potatoes and Meaux Mustard

Two way Preparations of Mushroom Risotto
with Foie Gras and King Prawn Bisque

Valentines Day Celebration at Tosca, DoubleTree, KL

This post has been long forgotten. It was Feb 14 and darling said, the dinner venue is a surprise. He picked me up from work, made a turn towards Jalan Tun Razak, and DoubleTree was where we were heading to. It was an interesting experience as the food quality was compromised, and we had our table at the foyer area of the ballroom. Why interesting? Just because it wasn't an unpleasant one, as I had the right company, and that was all that matters that nite. Voila, let the pictures tell you the story.

A glass of bubbly champagne to start the evening

Antipasti
Carpaccio di capesante e caviale Avruga|Impepata di tonno rosso

Sea scallop carpaccio, Avruga caviar, marinated watermelon, lime foam

Pepper crusted bluefin tuna, mesclun stack, mango salsa, aged balsamic

Zuppa
Consomme di anatra arrosto
Raosted duck consomme, foie gras parcel, duck rilette, morel

There were 2 choices of the main course, and we picked one each

Braised beef short ribs, truffle polenta, carmelized shallot, baby carrots, broccolini

Norwegian salmon, lobster beurre blanc
Squid ink pasta, green pea puree, salmon roe

And then came dessert...

Hazelnut & chocolate tart, raspberry sherbet, sesame croustillant, chocolate soil

My cuppa

Chocolates for the lady

Happy Valentines Day !

Family day trip up north

The school holidays are here, and everyone is back home! Whee... This calls for a food hunt trip! It's one of daddy's favourite things to do, to pack up in the car, and drive hundreds of kilometres away for good food. This time around, our destination is Tg Tualang. The first meeting point was at my house, as soon as both uncles arrived from Bentong, we started our journey.

First stop was at Rawang rest stop for brekkie. Next we drove straight to Kampar to pick up Alicia. We then made a stop at Kellie's Castle, I have wanted to visit this place for so long d!

Pit stop was for lunch.. we stopped at Sun Swee Kiong,TgTualang for some good chomps. I'll let the pictures do the talking...

After lunch, we dropped Alicia back in Kampar, and went on to Teluk Intan to buy some heong pheah. We only managed to find the Tiger Brand ones, but it was good enough for us. Caught a glimpse of our very own leaning pagoda.

As the evening approached, we drove on, heading to Kuala Selangor, our dinner destination, we passed through Sekinchan, had the opportunity
to be awed by the lovely golden ripened paddy fields.

Finally, at Kuala Selangor, a feast of simple seafood to end this lovely trip. Everyone went home, tired but happy and with a full stomache.

Double birthday @ Wasabi Bistro,Mandarin Oriental

It was Sissy's birthday, so I decided it's time to grant her the long forgotten dinner treat at Wasabi Bistro@Mandarin Oriental.

She was excited about it and tried on 3 different dresses before you decided on the 1st one. Girls..it's always the first pick ;)

Nothing fancy for me as it was just after work, and I was in uniform anyway. Reservations were made at 7.30pm, had just enough time to arrange for a cake. Well, it was kinda a double celebration for Abby & Andrew. So it'll be a a lush treat for all !

Haven't had time to edit my pics *gulp*guilty as charged!* So for now, let's make do with the shots from Andrew's iphone

Backdated: The belated birthday celebration @ Il Lido

It was a lovely dinner to celebrate both our birthdays..reservations was made, at Il Lido it is. Our second fine dining. We picked the Degustation Set Menu and a few items from the ala carte menu. For now, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves..

Amuse Bouche

The chef has decided to excite our taste buds tonight with a delicate piece of fried mozzarella on a sweet tomato puree. Simple yet tantalizing.

***

Crab Salad with Avocado and Bisque Jelly

This was a medley of flavors ~ the freshness of the sea, sweetness of the jam, and the creamy avocado to finish. Mmm…

***

Buffalo Mozzarella Cheese and Vine Ripened Tomato Salad (39)

A dish we picked from the ala carte menu, an irony we detect, as the thick slices of white cheese, is surprisingly light in texture, its flavor enhanced by the juicy sweet tomatoes. Very refreshing indeed.

***

Pan Fried Goose Liver with Saba Wine Must and Sweet Potato Galette

This fine piece of delicacy is crispy on the outside, rich and creamy inside. Resting on a bed of shredded sweet potato, it is a dish to impress!

***

Tagliolini with Lobster ‘Amalfi’ Style

*Ashamed* as we slowly savour this dish, thinking that it is the 59 bucks pasta I chose. I find it rather bland and ordinary, despite the piece of lobster on top.

***

Roasted Suckling Pig with Plum Sauce

Behold our main course; we waited no more to slice thru that crackling crisp, revealing a juicy piece of meat, sandwiched between 2 layers of fat that simply melts in your mouth.

***

Linguine with Jumbo Sea Prawns and Spicy Creamy Pork Sausage (59)

This is my real main course! Fine strands of al dente pasta tossed in olive oil, chilli flakes and fine porky piece (dun expect chunks of sausages!), topped with a generous piece of jumbo prawn.

***

Molten Lava Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream

And then came the dessert, do not be deceived by the dry looking piece of cake, when sliced into half reveals a rich warm chocolatey centre. Like its name, it erupts in your mouth, and sending orgasmic shivers, and then brought back to reality by the smooth vanilla ice-cream. Darling loves it!

***

Traditional Tiramisu (29)

My all time favourite dessert. A layer of light and creamy cheese sitting on a moistened bed of sponge fingers. Sweet and simple. However, the alcoholic me thinks that a bit more Kahlua would have been nicer!

***

And a slice of the suprise... Happy Birthday darling !

Compliments to the Chef for the lovely night, great food and great company, what more can one ask for...

The lovely evening ended with
Strawberry Dreams @ 7atenine - A sinful combination of vodka, Häagen-Dazs strawberry ice cream, Bailey’s irish cream, strawberry puree, strawberries.
