A song I remembered

I was watching an awards on 8TV, towards the end of the program, they announced Justin Lo as the winner for CASH best composer singer award. I have totally no idea what this whole program is about as I only switched it on 15 mins before the end. But seeing Justin Lo walk on stage reminded me of a tune, and I only remembered the scene in a movie where he was singing this song. Movie title, song title, lyrics - Nada. Hmm..as usual, I need to know the answer, frantically, I googled a few keywords, and I found it. It was a scene in the movie "2 Become 1" featuring Miriam Yeung and Richie Ren. I think I watched this movie back in my uni days, but I don't remember with whom I watched it, and infact I don't even remember much of the story.. but here's the lovely song that got me searching in vain, just as how I did few years ago.

everytime when i'm thinking of you
i just don't know what to do
pinch myself when i'm dreaming of you
making sure that you could love me too
how it slipped away, all my happy days

though i'm acting cool, when i'm feeling blue
just to show you that i'm through with you
while i never wanted to

how can the love so beautiful ever slip away
when i get to the place
i swear i'll write you a song each and everyday
ooh god i'm missing you it's driving me so insane
standing all alone in pouring rain
can't explain can't explain all my pain

Questions that haunt me...

I got this email from my aunt the other day, the subject was - Questions that haunt me. The list of questions you are about to read really do make some sense... Read on... and have a good laugh. Let me know if you have a good answer for it.

How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?

Can you cry under water?

Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity?

Why does a round pizza come in a square box?

What disease did cured ham actually have?

Why is it that people say they 'slept like a baby' when babies wake up like every two hours?

If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?

Why are you IN a movie, but you're ON TV?

Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

Why do doctors leave the room while you change? They're going to see you naked anyway.

Why is 'bra' singular and 'panties' plural?

Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?

Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours?
They're both dogs!

If Wile E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that ACME crap, why didn't he just buy dinner?

If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, what is baby oil made from?

If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?

Do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune?

Why did you just try singing the two songs above?

Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere, but call it a hemorrhoid when it's in your butt?

Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at you, but when you take him for a car ride, he sticks his head out the window?

Why, Why, Why?

Good things come in pairs...

So does bad ones.

At least it is for me. I woke up with a slight infection on my eye, the corner of my left eye seems to be swollen. The pain ain't too bad at first, but it is so uncomfortable to blink! And gradually, my eye is getting biggerrrrr, and the pain is creating a discomfort. sigh.. i wonder what it is..

the second bad thing of the day - I spilled hot green tea on my left hand. Great... all the misfortunes on my left side. Thought of making tea just so I could use the teabag to soothe my swollen eye, but instead I burnt my hand. It's all red and blotchy now. Ouch.. :(

Just got back from yumcha.. burp.. it was literally a tea drinking session as we ordered a pot of chinese tea though it was just us.. Hrmm. that's something I've never done before. Went to Uncle Rikky's dim sum place at Jalan Ipoh, my friend had some and said it was great.. then again prob he was just hungry. haha..

Dim sum at night reminds me of the my uni days where we used to go out to Sri Petaling for dim sum.. take Esther's lil car there, and share a "Kai Wor Pau".. Memories of the good old days...

Nien Chor Yee

I understand that most Cantonese celebrates the actual new year on the 2nd day of CNY. Us being Guang-xi, a Cantonese clan too, we usually have a bigger do on Chor 2. It's no different this year. The typical routine starts off with the slaughtering of a chicken for prayers. We then put together all the must have offerings before the altar table. Besides the chicken, we had pork, vegetarian dish, fruits, and other sweet cakes. After the prayers at home, we headed to the temple. The temple we will visit is the Kwong Fook Temple in Bentong. I found an interesting article on it. Do have a look.

After the prayers at the temple, we headed home to proceed with a second round of prayers where we offered the ancestors with a wide array of cooked dishes. By then, every member of the family has arrived at grandma's place. We entertained ourselves with card games, while the children were happy just running around and helping themselves to unlimited cold drinks !

Lunch is served........... for the ancestors and us!

Gong Hei Gong Hei - Nien Chor Yat

That's first day of Chinese New year to you bananas out there ( Nope, I did not forget that I'm one myself!)

Every year on Chor Yat, all the uncles and aunties will flock to visit my grandmother at Jln Ipoh. And we missed that each year of course. So this year, we decided to come down to KL for the day to join the fun at Grandma's house ( mommy's mom). We got ourselves ready, wished my paternal grandparents in the morning and then left Bentong at 10.30am. We made a pit stop back home to pick up all the new year goodies that Mom & I have packed earlier. CNY is also about giving and receiving, it's customary to exchange a package consisting of mandarin oranges, peanuts and other sweeties.

Indeed it was very very festive at popo's house, everyone was clad in their best bright colours, and a wide array of food was spread over the table. I can't remember how much cookies and packet drinks I took! *gulp*

Apparently, my group of cousins prepares a performance for all each year. This year, they danced to 2 songs, Nobody by Wonder Girls, and Lady Gaga's Pokerface. It's hilarious to see them dance and sing along. Jonathan and Joash perfomed MJ dance moves, Smooth Criminal and Billy Jean. My my, what hidden talents in the family !

At the end of the day, we were exhausted with the long day of visiting, eating, photo taking and talking. But it was a fruitful day, as we went home with a huge stack of red packets ! Travelled back to Bentong in the evening.

Gong Hei Fatt Choy !!

The much awaited day came and passed. Though CNY is celebrated for 15 days, I somehow felt it ended on Nien Chor Yee (2nd day of CNY)

The big fuss for CNY started weeks before, the many stages of spring cleaning, the many days and nights of making cookies, the half day spent learning how to make bee hive.. and the last minute decorations with angpow packets.

Came New Year Eve, it was a Saturday, and I attended an interview just before the trip back to Bentong. Hope it'll work out soon.
Anyways, the usual 1-hour trip back to Bentong was stretched out to a 2-hr plus journey, traffic was crawling on the Karak Highway, so we decided to use the old highway, it was much more scenic, and windy. It reminded me of the drive down West Coast of South Island - It was a torturing few hours drivem and to make things worst, the rented car cannot tune in the radio frequencies. *Gulp*

We reached grandma's house at 3pm, and went ahead with prayers for ancestors and a late lunch or more like an early dinner at 5pm. This wasn't really the reunion dinner, as this year, we planned out a steamboat and BBQ combo. There were heaps of food for everyone, for the old and the young! And thanks to the extremely warm weather, we needed lotsa Coca-Cola too !

Here's some pics of the night.

Valentine's Day

It's out ! It's out ! It's out !!

It's finally out on big screens, fell in love with even the trailer itself. Am a sucker for love stories like these, read a write up about it in yesterday's paper, and I think it'll be a good one. I believe the cinema will be flocked with couples, but I don't care, I'm watching it ,with or without company!

If you don't know what I'm talking about, you don't know what you are missing.

Check it out here Valentine's Day

Tired

Am too tired to write much. Have I been that well rested that I can't survive a few days of stress and travelling? Was up baking til 3am, am not complaining tho, cos i was rushing a last minute batch of cookies for a friend. She ordered 7 bottles ! yay.. that's a pair of new shoes and a new top perhaps. Thanks dearie !

The last of Spring Cleaning

It's finally done, done , done !! Today was yet another day of Spring cleaning for CNY. It felt like we've been cleaning forever! Today we did the ceiling fans, the grills, the floor, and I finally hung the paper cranes and ribbons on the 'pussy willow' outside the front door. Phew...

CNY is just a few days away, I'm not sure why, but this year, I'm really excited about it. It's almost like I'm counting down to 'Chor Yat'. And for a change, we are doing steamboat and a bbq at grandma's place this year, for reunion dinner. I've even got the chicken wings and lamb chops in the freezed already. And this year, we have decided to come down to KL on 'chor yat' to join the crowd at Po Po's place. It'll be a great hustle bustle for sure, with Li-Yee back from Canada as well. Ooh.. I can't wait.

As for now, I'm goin to hit Dreamland, as I need to be up and going early tomorrow, am temp-ing for cyn @ dunhill.

Good nite.

today once more

Today, 7 years ago, I made a decision that made a huge change in my life. I have it marked down in my diary as " The day I said Yes." Making that decision back then, I never anticipated the trail of events that took place after that. Moments of joy, laughter, fear and sadness followed. Together we discovered a side of us that we never knew, together we have been to places that only we would go.

On this same date, this year, I looked back, and only smiled, recalling every single moment that took place, for I only brought the happier moments with me. This way, I will never be afraid to look back at us.

I know you are there too, but I'll like to know that you are there, smiling.

: )
