My thoughts for the night

Tonight I had a lovely dinner with 2 girlfriends, both from my workplace. It was a lovely quiet meal, to celebrate our belated birthdays, and also to catch up. It was a good few hours break from work to break free from the stress, the complaints, and the many issues at work. I felt that I really
could kick back and relax.

During the dinner, we chatted about many things, and among them are how we should do the right things at the right age, and also to do it right. Jo, was the one who gave us a lot of advices throughout the dinner. It was interesting to hear her stories, her life, and how simple things in her everyday life gives her satisfaction. She is a successful businesswoman, and yet behind that suit, she is a simple lady who appreciates simplest things in life. I came back with a lot of thoughts in my mind. I thought about the many things that I would love to do, and been putting it off as it is almost impossible to find them to complete it. I am angry at how I have became a statistic, in the group that responds " Oh, I don't have the time" , which I myself used to think that it is a silly excuse.
By working 14 hours a day, and 6 days a week, and at times 7 days, it is almost impossible to find the energy and time to have a hobby, do sports or even cook! There must be someway to find a work balance, and I am working my way to plan that out.

It's time to take a pen and paper to jot these down ( I am a conventional girl, no ipads and digital notes :) )
But for now, it's also time to say Good Night!

It's been 2 months since I last wrote, when I was battling my emotions with work and with my grandmother's condition. The hours in each seems to zoom past without me noticing, and all of a sudden I find myself sitting here and staring at October on my CIMB calendar.

Today, I am still battling with the mixed emotions at work, well, more of the long hours at work. As for Grandma, I am happy because she has recovered and looking much better. Last month, we had a dinner to celebrate her birthday, and she was looking so radiant and happy. Last Sunday, exactly a month from that dinner, we were in Bukit Tinggi having a family dinner, and she could remember Alicia, and also things from her childhood.

This is life.. as much as things are difficult and stressful, there will always be a silver lining to it, something that you can look back , and it puts a smile to your face..

And here's to everyone who puts a smile to my face..

The Progress

It's been 2 weeks since her fall, after spending a week laying helplessly in the hospital, she is finally back at home. We all thought she would feel more at ease being at home, and not in the cold, white hospital ward - but we are not entirely right. At times, she couldn't recognize the house, and asked to go home. That's when Grandpa will hold her hands, and tell her patiently that this is her house, and her bed.

Watching from aside, I'm overwhelmed with emotions - it was cute to see her say the most random things, it was a heart warming scene to see my grandpa talking to her softly, and finally, it was sad to see my grandma acting like a child. Nevertheless, I am thankful that we didn't lose her, I am thankful that she could still walk and talk like a normal person.

I'm praying each day, for her to be back to normal, to be the superwoman I once knew.

My grandmother whom I fondly call "Ma Ma" is not well and lying in the hospital now. The sweet looking lady, whom I have always regard as a energetic, talkative, hardworking, very much a superwoman, is now frail and quiet on the hospital bed. One close look at her, made me realised how much she has aged. She is no longer the strong old lady, who could once carry a basket of vegetables over her shoulder, worked long hours tendering to her crops, and spoke as loud as a teacher and performed many other strenous tasks.

The doctor said we might lose her. The doctor said we just have to be prepared in case the blood clot expands. I'm praying hard now. I hope that she will pull through this time. For herself.. for us..

It's been a long long time since I pen down something. ( Clicked on a new tab > view blog> gosh! May 21.)

The month started off as a crazy one, with many late nights and some sleepless nights. It paid off I suppose to see my event up and running, the difficult part was preparing for it. I sometimes wonder if this is what I want to do for life? No, probably not. This is for now, and for another 2 years i suppose. And then.. some other plans should kick in*wink*wink*

There has been some changes here at work, be it for good or worst, I'm looking at it with a positive mind, and looking forward for shorter hours at work. Well, that's what they said it was all about, bring in more sales, and create more balance between work and lifestyle. You spot the irony there? But oh well, let's see where it will head on the 1st July.

Am having a weekend off tomorrow, and looking forward to do some quiet things at home. Well, for starters, I'll put up those backdated pictures.. from... urmm... early this year? At the back of my mind, there's the Dim Sum@Yuan, the PD trip, Mothers' Day, BBQ at my house, ok.. it's a long list to do.

This morning I saw this article on my iGoogle, which I thought I'll share it, it's a an article called "Letting Go of Sentimental Clutter". You know how we all have a little box, ok maybe a few boxes, filled with cards, stickers, wrappers etc.. Once in a few years, we take it out from under the bed, blow away the thick layer of dust, stare at the contents for a moment, and then push it back under the bed. I'm guilty as charged! Over the many years, I've collected so many things which I felt there's a sentimental value to me, from cards to movie tickets! and the weirdest, a dried leaf from Autumn in NZ. The content of this article did make a lot of sense, and gave me that urge to clean up my room, but I know it's a tedious project that will probably take months to complete. At one point when I was loitering around with no job last year, I wanted to redecorate my room, but it never happened. I wonder if that will happen anytime soon.. hrmm..

I finally had a haircut, after putting up with this messy curls that was going out of place for months!

It was totally unplanned, funny how it just happened and the opportunity came along. I've been saying that I need a haircut since the 2nd of April. Every weekend in fact, but time never allowed. I think the comment from my colleague pushed me towards that direction. I had a really bad hair day at work yesterday, so i kept it all up and away from my face. No, it wasn't the usual pony tail, it was just a short stump! When she saw me in the pantry, she said I looked like an "ah sam", literally, a middle aged "aunty". Oh, I was so offended, and I thought, that's it, I'm cutting my hair this week! And then the email flashed, to say that sales meeting is canceled, so I hurried along and got a haircut.

*Fuh*Blowing the dust off my blog, ok, that's a bit lame, but gosh, can't believe that I have not written since Valentines Day ! That's decades ago already. *pulling a guilty face*

It has been a while, and so much has happened since then.

Picking up from where I left, I celebrated V-Day this year ! After giving it a miss for 3 years? I've got my darling now ! And I wanna celebrate every single valentines day with him ! Wheeeeeee.
Ok, now I sound like a high school kid in love. Well, I am in love, and I'm proud to announce it. things are moving a big step forward and I'm happy and grateful about it.

The recent change of status on Facebook stirred up a bit of attention from our friends. Years of being a FB user, and I have never felt complied to change or announce it, just because of peer pressure. But this time, I'm proud to click on "in a relationship" :P

Have a sudden craving for fish and chips, the closest to me now would be Chinoz in the Park. Tried their fish and chips once, and they came pretty close a good one. A friend told me that Malones offer a pretty decent fish and chips too. Did a google search of the best takeaways in NZ to see if I did try any of them.

Valentines Day Celebration at Tosca, DoubleTree, KL

This post has been long forgotten. It was Feb 14 and darling said, the dinner venue is a surprise. He picked me up from work, made a turn towards Jalan Tun Razak, and DoubleTree was where we were heading to. It was an interesting experience as the food quality was compromised, and we had our table at the foyer area of the ballroom. Why interesting? Just because it wasn't an unpleasant one, as I had the right company, and that was all that matters that nite. Voila, let the pictures tell you the story.

Watched this with Tracy, Abby & Alicia in MBO Tesco. It's a Chinese New Year must watch ! The movie was a good laugh, and emphasized on a lot of family values. But I personally preferred last year's movie - 72 Tenants of Prosperity.

Gong Hei Fatt Choy!!

It's that time of the year again, where family members place gathers in their ancestral home. While the older generation slave all day in the kitchen to prepare dinner, the younger ones keep themselves busy decorating the house, playing cards, catching up, waiting for the yummy food to be served.

The reunion dinner on Chinese New Year Eve is a very important event in the Chinese culture. It is almost a must for every member of the family to be present at this dinner. As such, daughters and sons whom are working abroad, would also make an effort to come home to see their parents and family.

In every home, an array of scrumptious food would fill the table. Some families dine out, some prepares the ingredients for a steamboat affair, and even bbq! For my family, it is a must to have chicken, pork, fish, prawns and vegetables on the table. This year, we have an addition - Ayamas nuggets and drummets! It was added for for the benefit of the children ! ( Not! I see my uncles and aunts digging into it too !)

Besides the reunion dinner, personally, I think CNY is only complete with the sounds of firecrackers in the skies! Back then when we were younger we enjoyed playing sparklers and "dragon eggs" on the street. It adds on to the atmosphere! Other Chinese New Year must haves are the mandarin oranges, red capped cookie jars filled with all sorts of sweet treats, bak kwa, packet drinks, and of course ANGPOWS!

Day out with Trace

It's my off day! It's a day for shopping and catching up with my bestie. Trace is back from NZ for Chinese New Year, knowing that I won't get to see her till next year, a shopping trip is a must! We spent the whole day walking around Times Square and Sungei Wang. Sometime, it's amazing how each of our shopping trip feels exactly like all the previous ones, the shops around us might change, but I always enjoyed every moment of our outings.

Trace & I are almost the complete opposites in many things, she loves cats while I dislike them.(Trace, I only put up with them because u like them). Her idea of a holiday is to stay home and watch drama, while I want to sit on green grass and enjoy the sun. She is a vegetarian, while I can't live without my dose of meat.

These are just lil things to start with, there are many more things that we are just the complete opposites, but at the same time, ironically, we find common spots in many things. We both love shopping, TVB and mamak food, and many more. We have been friends for 10 years, she is one the best listener, one who doesnt judge but offers rational advices, one who supports my decision although she doesn't get it sometimes. She is the best BFF I can ever ask for, 10 years and still counting. I only hope for her to find happiness in her life, wherever she is. ( PS: I hope she will find her Mr.Right soon too!)

Pinchos & Reggae Bar

Today is a public holiday, hence the partying last night !

Well, it wasn't that much of a party, but it was a girls night out. Patricia and I have not seen each other for a long time, for at least a month? Well, we make it a point to meet up at least once a month, it was supposed to be a trio gathering, but let's leave that out of the picture for now.

Last night, Patricia brought me to Pinchos, a Spanish pub along Changkat Bukit Bintang. We ordered some tapas, and she had a glass of Sangria while I tried the Peach Sangria. It was a mixture of white wine with peach syrup/liquer. I still prefer the one in La Bodega. We sat at the bar, and I was fascinated by the slab of ham sitting in front me! And then I remembered what darling told me, this must be the Serrano ham! The layers of fat around the pork leg was at least 2 inches thick, mmm I can almost imagine the creamy taste of the ham slices..

After 2 drinks and some good chat, we left Changkat and headed home. On the way home, we passed by Reggae Bar, and thought we'll make a stop since I have never been there. It was a nice cozy bar, reminds me of the hippy bar in Queenstown! Ah, the backpackers lifestyle.. One last drink of vodka puts a cap to the night. And so we went home as happy as a doll.

It's Monday. I seriously wished I am not here. I wish I could *zap* myself to somewhere with a hot sunny beach, me sipping on a cold drink, and getting a tan. Ah, the ideal holiday. Can't wait for the next one.

I was doing some observations today at work, and suddenly I pondered on a question,

"How many different personalities does one have?"

I gave it a thought, and I figured " It is a theory that applies to everyone of us. Like it or not, we all wear a different mask each day, and different ones with different people that we meet. It is not a matter of hypocrisy, but it is almost a survival skill. Being in the hospitality industry, we put on smiling face and a "never say no" policy to most guests and clients, but would we apply the same with our colleagues and friends? Sometimes, even with our friends, we are a different personality all together, with one, we could go all crazy and wild, with another, we could be domestic and quiet.

So, how many different personalities do you have?

A lil emo Sunday

It's a Sunday, and I'm, having post weekend blues already.

Went out for a lovely date with darling yesterday. We went to D'Tandoor for some north Indian cuisine. The food was mediocre, and I wouldn't say that I'll go back there anytime soon. Have to keep hunting for some good indian choms, next on the list is Malabar Palace, in Hartamas Shopping Centre. After dinner, we went to Tropicana City Mall to jalan-jalan. I have only been there once, and the thought of looking at some new shops and a new place was fun! There was a bazaar on Ground Floor, and I spotted this cute handbag, unfortunately the owner of the stall was not there, so I did not find out the price. After a cup of yoghurt from Tutti-Fruiti, and some shopping later, we dropped by the stall again. This time, the lady was there, and she said the bag was RM30 for one, since I couldn't decide between yellow or black, I bought both, for RM45 only! Think I got a bargain there ;)

After TCM, we went back to Kepong MBO to catch The Tourist at 10.15pm. MBO at Kepong Village Mall has become our new favourite cinema, it's huge, spacious, and queue free ! Oops, better not speak too soon, don't want it to be too crowded. The movie was a good watched mainly because Angeline Jolie & Johnny Depp were in there, individually, that is, as I found no chemistry at all between them. I can't wait for the final sequel of Pirates of the Carribean! Ooh la la..

Am feeling a little emotional today, been having some crappy thoughts about my life, basically I just needed that extra bit of assurance. I try not to cloud myself with these thoughts as I know it's unhealthy, but at the same time, I can't eliminate the fears completely. Am learning to be more positive, and speaking out my mind helps.

Daddy & Mommy are away in Vietnam, and I'm in charge! *grins*

Took 3 days off from work to sort out some chores, and luckily, got my appointment at the dentist. So, that's a few things off my list. It was a good few days rest at home, it was good to take my mind off work and everything else.

Mommy is coming back tomorrow, and then I'll be back to work. At least I'll be all fresh and ready to face the challenges at work !

New Years' Day Bake

Happy New Year 2011!

It's a brand new year, a brand new start to everything. Well at least everything. I have not written down my 2011 resolutions yet. It's quite a cliche to do so, however, I guess it works like a motivation for us to achieve certain things in the next 365 days. Hrmm, there are quite a few at the back of my mind. And it brings a smile to my face to know that many things will be achieved by us.

It's nice and sunny outside, and a good day to stay home and be fully domesticated ! It calls for some baking ! Made some cheese tarts with the tart shells that Aunty Wendy gave me, baked a marble cake for darling, and some muffins :)

Christmas trip up north

It's rather a new experience for me to have to plan my year end leaves as I am so used to the company shutting down from Christmas Eve till after New Year's Day. And then last year I was unemployed, so I was on leave anyway. This year, with MO, I had to plan my leaves carefully, and also to coincide with darling's. We made plans to travel up north to Penang! One of our favourite state after Malacca. (right dear?)

It was a fun filled 3D2N! Managed to pack in an equal amount of food hunting, sight seeing, shopping and lotsa TLC time. We ate all the Penang must have, with the bonus being English afternoon tea at Annabelle's, Tanjung Bungah. We visited most Penang tourist spots, including the newly built Goddess of Mercy Statue up at Kek Lok Si. Lotsa time for xoxo.*grins*

Family day trip up north

The school holidays are here, and everyone is back home! Whee... This calls for a food hunt trip! It's one of daddy's favourite things to do, to pack up in the car, and drive hundreds of kilometres away for good food. This time around, our destination is Tg Tualang. The first meeting point was at my house, as soon as both uncles arrived from Bentong, we started our journey.

First stop was at Rawang rest stop for brekkie. Next we drove straight to Kampar to pick up Alicia. We then made a stop at Kellie's Castle, I have wanted to visit this place for so long d!

Pit stop was for lunch.. we stopped at Sun Swee Kiong,TgTualang for some good chomps. I'll let the pictures do the talking...

After lunch, we dropped Alicia back in Kampar, and went on to Teluk Intan to buy some heong pheah. We only managed to find the Tiger Brand ones, but it was good enough for us. Caught a glimpse of our very own leaning pagoda.

As the evening approached, we drove on, heading to Kuala Selangor, our dinner destination, we passed through Sekinchan, had the opportunity

to be awed by the lovely golden ripened paddy fields.

Finally, at Kuala Selangor, a feast of simple seafood to end this lovely trip. Everyone went home, tired but happy and with a full stomache.

It was Sissy's birthday, so I decided it's time to grant her the long forgotten dinner treat at Wasabi Bistro@Mandarin Oriental.

She was excited about it and tried on 3 different dresses before you decided on the 1st one. Girls..it's always the first pick ;)

Nothing fancy for me as it was just after work, and I was in uniform anyway. Reservations were made at 7.30pm, had just enough time to arrange for a cake. Well, it was kinda a double celebration for Abby & Andrew. So it'll be a a lush treat for all !

Took the day off, and went shopping with Momsie. Headed out to The Curve, and the goal was to get a dress for Venus' wedding. After hours of walking around, I got nothing ! A tired and hungry me, got us to Dragon-I for a late lunch. Hrmm, what a luxury to be away from work, and having dim sum on a lazy afternoon. I could get used to this ! A dish we picked from the ala carte menu, an irony we detect, as the thick slices of white cheese, is surprisingly light in texture, its flavor enhanced by the juicy sweet tomatoes. Very refreshing indeed.

This fine piece of delicacy is crispy on the outside, rich and creamy inside. Resting on a bed of shredded sweet potato, it is a dish to impress!

*Ashamed* as we slowly savour this dish, thinking that it is the 59 bucks pasta I chose. I find it rather bland and ordinary, despite the piece of lobster on top.

Roasted Suckling Pig with Plum Sauce

Behold our main course; we waited no more to slice thru that crackling crisp, revealing a juicy piece of meat, sandwiched between 2 layers of fat that simply melts in your mouth.

Linguine with Jumbo Sea Prawns and Spicy Creamy Pork Sausage (59)

This is my real main course! Fine strands of al dente pasta tossed in olive oil, chilli flakes and fine porky piece (dun expect chunks of sausages!), topped with a generous piece of jumbo prawn.

Molten Lava Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream

And then came the dessert, do not be deceived by the dry looking piece of cake, when sliced into half reveals a rich warm chocolatey centre. Like its name, it erupts in your mouth, and sending orgasmic shivers, and then brought back to reality by the smooth vanilla ice-cream. Darling loves it!

My all time favourite dessert. A layer of light and creamy cheese sitting on a moistened bed of sponge fingers. Sweet and simple. However, the alcoholic me thinks that a bit more Kahlua would have been nicer!

It was a Sunday morning, and suprisingly Daddy was at home ! So we went for for breakfast, and he suggested dim sum. So we trotted along to try a new place , it's Kong Mah in Sungai Buloh. Mom said that the owner of this shop, used to run a small little corner in the Bukit Maluri market, then she shifted over to Sg Buloh, and expanded it to a full fledged dim sum restaurant. If your intention is to sit down and enjoy cupS of tea with your food, this is not the right place, as it is rather packed and has a very high turnover. As soon as you sit down, you'll find yourself surrounded by waiters carrying offering you all sorts of dim sum, even before your cuppa tea is served! Each one of them is in charged of a few types of dishes., that way they could respond to customers at the snap of their fingers ! We were in Putrajaya for the day, and while scouting around for dinner options, we found this - Chakri Express, a chain owned by Chakri Palace. Being tired of fast foods and Japanese, we decided to give this a try. The bill came up to RM60 for 2 person, a reasonably price for Thai food. I'll let the pictures do the talking

Tom Yum Seafood
The soup wasn't too spicy, with just the right dash of tangy-ness, a combination of prawns and squids fills the bowl.

Creamy butter prawns
The battered prawn were fried to golden perfection, and topped with a creamy butter sauce with slight peaces of salted egg yolk. Hrmm, I sense a lil Chinese influence here.

Green curry chicken
I personally thought it could be improved with a lil more spicy-ness, and less coconut milk.Though it can't beat the one in Sri Ayutthaya, nevertheless, it was a good try.

Patricia took me out to this lovely Italian place hidden amon the hustle bustle of Ampang's traffic, well we did find the place only after a few wrong turns. But it was all worth the find. Well, she's been there before, just not during the night. All dressed up for the night, I was looking forward to a lovely birthday dinner with my BFF whom I've known for 10 years now. Originally, I did a collage of all the photos, but I thought it didnt do justice to the amazing food.. so here's the bigger version

I never quite fancied gnocci as I am afraid of the floury texture, but this is a must try! The gnocchi has a slight crispy texture in the outside, light and fluffy inside, with a tinge of sweetness. Perfectly complemented with generous cuts of fresh prawns. Yum!

Grillled mushrooms-
a refreshing starter, tossed in a nice blend of herbs and served with garden greens.
Don't need to count calories with this one!

Can't remember the exact name, but it's fettucine with scallops and mushrooms, cooked in a cream gravy. It was a rare decision of mine to order this, as I could never finished a creamy pasta. Nevertheless, for carbonara lovers, you will find this dish an indulgence. With generous amount of scallops and mushrooms, and a creamy gravy, you'll find it hard to not lick the plate!

Ravioli di Pesce
Each piece of ravioli is a lovely combination of a thin rolled out pasta with chunky pieces of fish, and swimming in a creamy salmon grave. It was definitely a good pick!

Last but not least, my BFF and partner in crime since high school, one whom I've shared my deeepest and darkest secrets with. Thank you for the lovely dinner. hugs

It's a holiday again... seriously, this mid week breaks are not encouraging at all, cos it makes me feel like going on a long holidayyyyyyy.

Finally got to watch Life as We Know It last night, watched it in TGV KLCC, I really don't like the seats, there's so little space in between the rows, that my legs felt so cramped throughout the 2 hours movie. Wil think again, before giving it another try.

Woke up early today, and brought mommy to Desa Parl for brunchie. We finally decided on Coffee Bean, food was ok, but the service was so so slow. Coffee was already cold when the food arrived, lesson learnt ~ never to go there when it's packed! There was a stall set-up at the foyer, and they have the cutest handmade items, couldn't resist it, so I bought a pair of ala-Chanel earrings. This lady, Phang, makes the loveliest and cutest figurines I've ever seen. So tempted to buy lots and lots of it ! Will post up the pictures. Should have taken photos of the lil angels and princesses that she makes.

Came home, and been lazing since then. What a great way to spend my off day....

Zzzzz.. let me just snooze a bit more before heading out for dinner with Mandy & Hz. can't wait to catch up !

Last night, I had the weirdest dream.

I was on a plane to NZ, and couldn't believe how spontaneous my decision was. As I reached, I was still overwhelmed by the fact that I was back there again. Was infact trying to recall if I did submit my annual leave forms to my boss, and trying to figure out how long this trip was. But what I rmb clearly was, at the back of my mind, I was reminding myself to stop at the supermarket to buy lotsa chips and cookies for him. And then I woke up..

I went to work as usual on Tuesday, knowing that it'll be a lovely day ahead. The train of wishes came pouring in on Facebook, by all my dear friends, colleagues were wishing me as I passes them by. It made me smiling all day.
Wahida bought me lunch at Du Viet, a Vietnamese restaurant at KLCC. It was nice to sit down and share juicy goss with her. She has had such a tiring week! Poor girl,must bring her out on a good date!
At 5.30pm, my dearest colleagues surprised me with a yummy cheese cake and a KFC feast. So sweet of them. It was a lovely mini celebration. Thanks! Was still working till bout 8.30pm, after being shooed twice by Rachel. I was finally going to make a move and head home, that's when he called and said he in KLCC. Was told to give him 30 mins while he wraps up his dinner with colleagues, then he will drop me home. And so Cally suggested that we grab a drink next door, a drink here meant hot chocolate and coffee. It was so nice to sit down and have a good chat about books! I don't remember the last time I met someone who loves reading so much !
He picked me up at 9+, and gave me a lovely heart shaped cake. We cut cake in the car though, how romantic. hehe. We then went for a walk at Desa Park City, and sat together till the last few mins of my birthday , which led to the first few minutes of his birthday.

It's my off day ! Wheee.. as I only manage to sleep at 3+, I woke up at 11am. Had a quick breakfast, and went to Mid Valley for retail therapy. It was some good time spent with sissy, have not been out with her for a long time. HZ came by to have lunch with me. I felt so much better after meeting her. JM came by at 7+, we were going to have dinner with his good friend and wife to be. We had a scrumptious meal in Tony Roma's, with a good chat to end the night.

Patricia bought me dinner and drinks. We went to a lovely Italian restaurant in Ampang. La Risata is the name. We had amazing food, a good chat and then washed it down with a pint of Strongbow Cider at Havana's. Thanks girl, for listening to me talk all night! My BFF of 10 years !

This is a retweet from my bro's blog, for some reason I find the quote very inspiring, and decided to 'borrow' it. It's sad that we sometimes only realise things when it's slipping away from your fingers, or worst, it has slipped away. It could be a loved one, a family, or even the neighbour that you never smiled to.

Carpe diem - a Latin phrase that has popularly been translated to " Seize the day" . It is a saying by Horace, a Roman leading poet, the original phrase is much longer and actually means Seize the day, trusting as little as possible in the future". I often myself pondering on the many what-ifs in life. I know that I am sometimes too cautious, especially where emotions are concerned. I have been contemplating some decisions for months, being very careful in what I say and what I project. And then it hit me that, this is probably not the way to do it. You know very well that you only live once, and you should follow your heart. I suppose I let the logic get the better of it. Is there logic in love tho?

Being sitting around thinking of a few things, not knowing what I should do, or rather where I should start. Then I realised how important timing is, after all, it is never about doing just the right thing, but the right thing at the right time. The fuss about 'good timing' is reflected strongly in the Chinese culture, look at a wedding ceremony, it's all about keeping things in a particular time frame.
And my question is, is this the right time? Or I missed the " 吉时" ?

Taking a stop after the long day, thought I'll pen in some before I leave the office. It's been 16 hours since I stepped into office. Been slaving away, juggling and rushing the preparations for the gala dinner this Friday, and to top it off, a last minute dinner on Saturday nite? What a blow.. Might have to drop by in the evening then. Darn, was just thinking of going away for the weekend. Oh mayb on Sunday then.

Been workin on an auto-pilot mode all day, so much to do, and find it hard to coordinate my hands ! In the midst of replying an email, my hands moved and grabbed other things that I'm supposed to do. Gosh..

Am looking forward for a bit of quiet time to myself, feel like sitting on the top of a mountain, clearing my thoughts and finding some answers. But that didnt work the last time I tried.. I felt more depressed then. Read an article about working productively by working smarter and harder, but is there such a thing as thinking productively? Does it mean shutting down the negativity and focusing on the positive energy? Does weighing the pros and cons mean literally writing it down into 2 columns on a piece of paper? Time to seek some zen...

Am feeling very tired, but mentally wide awake. Insomnia is creeping to me lately, I have not googled the causes, am so far blaming it on stress and my hardworking brain? But maybe I know why, but I'm in denial. Oh, this bad gastric I'm having now does not help at all. The pain is just excruciating? ok, that's a bit dramatic. Each time, I have a bad gastric, it reminds me of a moment I shared with someone few years back. I had such a bad gastric after having orange juice at a mamak, and I remember that I could barely walk home. Oh, there goes my random thoughts.

I've been sitting home all day, managed to clear my abso-fucking-lutely messy table. (Been rewatchin SATC and adapted the word from there). Went to Tesco to buy some groceries, did plenty of chores, and had time to read my newly acquired book - My China by Kylie Kwong, and fell asleep in the midst of it. And now, I'm sitting here writing my 2nd post. I have so much time in my hand today! It's all a lil weird when I have been complaining that I do not have time for myself, nor do I have much time to rest. How often do you find yourself in such situation? How often do you find yourself wanting to do so many things, but only to find the timing absolutely wrong? Or at times, have words hanging at the tip of your tongue, but never had the courage to say it. Ironic as it seems, but we all face moments like these, perhaps every single day, whether you realise it or not.

It's the way of life that mankind are always wanting things that we cannot get. Hence the expression - the grass is always greener on the other side. But is it really greener and lusher?

The date is triple ten today. Happy 10.10.10 is probably the most common facebook status you'll see since last night. Hrmm.. reminds me of my IP address back in hostel. Lol

Am having a quite weekend at home, it's a well deserved weekend after the eventful week. So much has happened in the past 5 days, and the anti climax now seems so unreal. 1st commandment in mind, so no bitching here. To sum it up, work and everything else was a mess! It was a total battlefield of emotions from Mon - Friday. Friday was a total madness, and by the time I left office at 11pm, I realised that I've been up for 17 hours already! Well, minus the 2 hours we spent having dinner at KLCC, I was actually in the office for 15 hours.. oh gosh.
As I drove off from the office at 11+, all ready to end my long day, the KL night life was just warming up! It was a slow crawl along Jalan Pinang to Lorong P Ramlee, as there was the Asia Ducati fest in Beach Club, the crowd there was massive. As I waited a good few mins at the red light, I feasted my eyes on the chaotic scene on the sides of the road. In front of me, I saw 2 foreigners get in a cab with 3 ladies, and I cannot help but to assume the transactions that are due to happen.
Reached home about 11+, and boy was I shattered. God knows where I found the energy to get dressed and head out again. I suppose it's the Friday night fever! Had my brother dropped me at The Curve to meet some friends, hehe, that's what younger brothers are for ! Lol...
Came back early in the morning, and fell straight on my bed, I needed some good sleep after the super long day! Buenos noches people!

Saturday was more subtle, I went down to KL for a haircut, absolutely love my last haircut, thus goin the distance for it. But I must say that I'm a lil disappointed with it this time, it's a lil more funky than what I would have preferred. Hope my boss doesnt comment much bout it. *gulp*
After my haircut, I took a stroll along Petaling Street, haven't been there for a while, the last was probably back in July when Ivy visited. Then I made a stop at this cozy shop at the corner of Jalan HS Lee, to buy some cakes. Their durian cakes are to die for! Yum ! After savouring a bowl of beef noodles in a lil corner inside Shin Kee Beef Noodles, I headed home.

Had dinner in Karak last night. Came back about 11+, had to say no to Patricia's invite to Reggae, fell flat on my bed till 9.30am this morning. I guess I needed a really good rest.Period.

It's quarter to 7 now, and I'm sitting here in the office. Really should be kicking off with my tonnes of work. Wait a minute, is it all my work? It's just so frustrating at times.

(Ok, Principle No#1, Thou shalt not bitch about work on my blog.)

Well, since I left work early yesterday for a dinner appoinment, it's only fair to make it up by coming in early. There are tonnes of emails and proposals to go out today, it being Friday, and I really don't wanna spend another long Saturday in the office. Hrm, this pattern seems to fit me a lil better, leaving work a lil earlier ( by all means before 9pm), at least I could spend time with my loved ones and catch up a lil with my social life.

Things has been a lil shaky these days, it's mainly my thoughts I guess. It is definitely a better idea to pour out, but it just seems so much easier to seal it up. A close friend suggested meditating, it's suppose to help you achieve a calmer mind, but I don't know how, and not sure if I could.

As we slowly creep into October, I can't believe that it's actually 3 more months till end of 2010. Time really flies aye? I was working over the weekend for a highly ranked socialite event. It was a birthday party of a famous figure, and a flashy party was thrown for him by his wife. The party was literally flashy as they had the Paper Dolls walking around only in minimal clothing. The whole grand ballroom was dressed up to look like Las Vegas. Ooo- la - la. I suppose this is how the rich celebrate their birthdays.

The weekend has been long and tiring ! Long hours on Saturday, and an eventful Sunday! Went to Bukit Jalil to watch the Malaysian ATP finals with Mommy, Sissies, and Patricia. It was fun ! We had really good seats, and a good view of the eye-candy. And Patricia was eyeing.. .ahem.. someone else too. It was both the doubles and singles final game, and we sat there for close to 5 hours.. oh , our poor bum. Was pretty drained at the end of the game, left the stadium and only got home at 9+. And the next day was monday already! Sigh...

It is indeed the new movie directed by super hunk Wang Lee Hom. It was a really good watch, and us, sitting on the third row, had him big and clear in front of us ! I must say, his talents does not stop in singing and musical instruments, this movie was played pretty well compared to the last few that he did. Probably this character is a close shot to his real life routine.

In many ways, LOVE can be in disguise too, it is up to you to peel off the pieces and discover what lies beneath. Sometimes, people make harsh decisions in the name of love, deciding and following a route that is painful and miserable; only love could get you going thru that hardship.

The theme song of the movie " Ni Bu Zhi Dao De Shi" , translated into English, it's "Things that you don't know". I have been listening to this song for the past few days, am practically humming it every other minute. The lyrics evoked a lil hidden emotions in me, something that is put aside for some time, and never really dared to re-open. I did a google search for the lyrics today, found a version of pinyin and chinese words. Took me a while to read through and fully understand the meaning, but i could totally relate to it. I rmb listening to countless lovely songs dedicated to me, with each word, it carries heartfelt emotions. Maybe I could not express myself then, but I hold these songs closely to my heart. ( If only you know..) I suppose if I were to write a song now, I might write an opposite one to Lee Hom's, it'll be " If only you knew". Have not been this emotional for a while, it's scary to admit it, as I sometimes find myself almost turning into a cold-blooded creature. It's almost like I forgot how to love and care for someone. I forgot how it feels to curl up into a warm cuddle and whisper sweet words. I find myself lying in bed and longing for a warm hug before bedtime. If only virtual ones work as well. It's probably time for some sort of soul-searching, again.

KTM - ladies coach

It was just any other day when I was returning from work, as usual, I waited at the ladies only waiting area. Yes, the KTM does have a coach dedicated to females only. Yes, female is the word. But I suppose there are many still men out there who conveniently stroll in the ladies coach. It's either they can't read, or they are just bloody ignorant about the signboard.(You can't really miss it, as it's pink and all over the coach)

On this evening, as I enter the Ladies Coach, it being a peak hour, the train was pretty packed, and one man was spotted seated quietly at the corner. He obviously made no effort to leave the coach despite receiving stares from the women in train. And out of the blue, a Malay lady walked right up to him, and said

" Excuse me, this is a ladies coach, ladies only !"

The man stood up and walked toward the door leading to the other coach. Just when I thought the lady was going to take the seat, she did not. She strolled to the other end of the coach, as if she was inspecting every bit of the coach. At the next stop, a man entered the coach, again the lady came walking from the other end and shoo-ed him away. Honestly, I was very impressed with her courage and attitude to stand up for all-ladies policy. I think that is exactly that extra dash of courage that we all need, at the end of the day, it is up to us to voice out if we were uncomfortable with the male presence in the train.

It's been week since I'm back from HK, and due to the laziness in me, I have not done any editing work on my photos. Didn't take much tho, was only 900+ photos in 5 days, pretty few for my records!

Will summarize the trip and post the photos much later. ;) The night before my trip, I felt like kicking myself for not planning much earlier, I mean, I booked the flights in April, that's 4 whole months to decide where to go, and what to eat. Hotels were only booked 2 weeks before, and itinerary drawn up 24hours before ! What a champ! Nevertheless, we covered a quite a few places in the 5 days, and stumbled upon quite a few famous food spots. Behold our 5 days plan...

Day 1
Arrived in HK International Airport at noon, bus trip to Causeway Bay. Checked in to Express by Holiday Inn. Lunch at Mei Sek Yuen Lam Restaurant @ Causeway Bay. In the evening, we went to Central via 'Ding Ding'. It's HKD2 per trip, and it was a good way to look at the shops and buildings. After a few sesat turns, we finally got ourselves to the Lower Peak Tram Terminal. The plan for the night was to visit The Peak, and Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. The queue was fuii yooo... It went zig zaggin like the crowd at GSC Mid Valley on a Saturday! We were so glad when we found out that we didnt have to follow the queue if we were buying the combo - Wax Museum + Tram. It took us about an hour to get to the peak, and it was a horrid experience with the Chinese tourist as they kept pushing their way through. From the peak, you can catch a glimpse of the magnificient night view of Hong Kong, the cool breeze is much welcomed on a hot summer day! The tour around Madame Tussauds's took us close to 2 hours. We had a jolly good time taking photos with the celebrities and historical figures. Especially like Johnny Depp's wax figure! We had a late dinner cum supper in a place near our hotel. It was the most awful meal we had in HK. A bowl of bland soup noodles with starchy meat balls.. bleks. Went back to our rooms and knocked off in no time.

Day 2
Woke up early morning and had Disneyland in mind, but much to our dismay, it was drizzling outside. We changed plans and decided to go to Macau instead. After breakfast, we made our way to Sheung Wan station and bought our ferry tickets, Macao Dragon was having a promo and it was only 88HKD for a return trip as compared to the other companies which starts from 130HKD for one way. We reached Taipa after an hour on the ferry. We hopped on a free shuttle and got ourselves to The Venetian. It's designed to look like Venice, with a man made canal in the mall, and gondola rides for the public. The casino was huge, as compared to Genting. We tried our luck at the jackpot machines, hoping to win some lunch money, but we lost all 30 dollars. After some pictures in the Venetian, we hopped on a taxi, and went to Taipa Village to hunt for food. 1st stop was Seng Cheong for their crab porridge. Next stop down the lane was
Sawdust pudding and pork chop buns at Tai Li Loi Kee. Yum yum!
From Taipa, we took a mini bus over to Macau. The main objective is to climb up St Paul's ruins, but we got distracted by Sasa and Boujour. Total damage done was 490 HKD ! got perfumes for myself and mommy!
We finally got our tired legs up to the steps of St Paul's ruins, and took some pictures. Then we treated ourselves to Double Steamed Milk Pudding.An interesting dessert it was. Catching the ferry at 09.30pm back to HK, we were tired but very happy with our day trip at Macau. Dinner was a meal at a stall near the hotel. More curried fish balls and noodles. Yay!

Day 3
Since we have decided to skip Disneyland this trip, we made time for The Buddha Statue on Lantau Island. It's a famous spot that we see on TVB series all the time. We had to take the MTR to Tung Chung stop, and then up to Ngong Ping via cable car. It was a beautiful day for sightseeing! We spent the whole afternoon visiting the Buddha Statue and Po Lin Monastery. Only came down at 4+, and proceeded to CityGate Outlet Mall ( which everyone has been raving about) , maybe my purchasing power is really low, so I came out from the mall empty handed. :( Mandy & Wai Mun both got a lil something though. Early dinner was hot food from the supermarket, ate it in front of the water ountain outside the mall. We are being realy tourists aye? Travelled back to the hotel to drop our stuff, and set out again. This time, we headed to Mongkok - meant to visit both Ladies St and Temple St, but only managed to walk down Ladies St. Did quite a bit of shopping and eating. Finally had a taste of HK's smelly tou fu - the smell was really awful.. as Mandy described it, it smells like the drain! Somehow Wai Mun & I found it bearable, so we shared a piece. It taste pretty awesome, I'm so proud of myself! Lol. We made our way back to the hotel at 11+, and along the way, we spotted HK police on standby at the side of the road.. hmm. I wondered if there will be a gangfight soon?

Day 4
After a preliminary packing the night before, we decided that we needed more SHOPPING! hehe. We set out to Central district first thing in the morning, as Wai Mun needed to go up to The Peak again. So we cari makan around that area, tried Wan Tan Mee at 2 shops, and they were right opposite each other. Haha, they must be thinking what a glutton we were. We walked around and explored Central district, stumbled upon hidden alleys of markets, fruit stalls and antique shops. Little did we know that we have walked all the way to the other side of town. The scorching weather did not help at all, but a cup of pure orange juice did! 4 oranges for 13HKD - A bargain it was! After returning to the hotel to freshen up, we made out way out again. This time, we went down to Tsim Sha Tsui to catch the Symphony of Lights and to take a stroll down Avenue of Stars. 2nd part of the night was spent back in Central District, we wanted to go to Lan Kwai Fong. Was fairly disappointed to find out it was just a street of pubs and bars. I'm not sure if there are more pubs that are unexplored though. Well, we'll save some for the next trip ! Oh, the twist of the night was a live drama on the road. A man was shouting at traffic police, and threatening him. It was realy fun watching that ! ;)

Day 5
Finally, it's the day to leave HK. We woke up pretty early on this day, guess we finally realise how little time we have ! We went out to cari makan and had a yummy breakfast of noodles and old style yin yong. Walked around Bowrington Food Market, we were so impressed to find an escalator in the market ! Also made a trip to the MTR station to collect a refund from our Octopus Card. went back to the room to 'lepak' a bit more, and finally got all our stuffs together and out of the room. ;) The ride to the airport took about an hour, and all 3 of us took a quick snooze on the way there. As there wasn't much time to look around the airport, we proceeded straight to the departure hall. Boarded the plane at 6.30pm, and went straight back to KL. Well, that was the end of our trip, we had great fun, and was suprised that we made pretty good travel companions as it's our first time travelling together.

Shall we start planning the next trip ?

Oh dear, it's August, and there were no posts for July. Besides work, I was pretty busy catching up with friends. Manage to see few different group of friends, and to top it up, Ivy came to visit me. She was on her way back to Taiwan, after spending 8 months in Australia and a year in NZ. We had so much fun sightseeing and just chatting till wee hours in the morning.

Have been a lil distracted these days, my mind seems to be elsewhere most of the time during the day..hmm. must really reflect on that.

At the same time, maybe it's the fact that I'm just excited about my trip to HK ! I know, i know , it's just HK, but the thought of goin to visit all those places we've seen in TVB series, makes it all fun ! am goin to start listing down the places I'll like to see. Wheeeeeee

Fathers Day Celebration

It was Daddy's day.. well our way of saying it. :P
Every year, it is without fail that we would go out for dinner, buy a card for Daddy, and followed by his favourite Pandan Layer Cake from King's. This year, for no special reason, he is really excited about celebrating this day. As bro was jokingly asking Dad to pay for dinner, Daddy insisted that we should treat him.. Okayyy.. point taken !
On Friday night, as I sprawled lazily on my parents bed, ( yes, I'm 25 years old, and I still do that *blush*) Daddy was already discussing the options for his Father's Day dinner, it's so not him. He was still talking about a particular restaurant in Kepong, while I have easily doze off. Waking up every few mins to say.. mm.. ok... and up to you. That was a hilarious scene to watch!

Came Saturday evening, and we were still undecided what to have for dinner. I listed a few options for him, among them are Bavarian Bierhaus, Shogun, Jack's Place, and finally he picked Sri Ayutthaya, suggested the one in Wangsa Maju. So I picked up the phone and made reservations for 7 pax, and off we go!
It was a lovely restaurant, newly opened, they are all out to provide you with the utmost attention and service. We didnt have to wait long for our food, and it was yummy. A lil too much food actually, but there's always room for desserts. So here's the few shots of the scrumptious meal. And the bill came up to a whopping RM350. Not so bad if you divide it by 7 person, but it's a lil higher than our usual family dinner. But oh well, daddy enjoyed the dinner very much, I could tell. So it was all worth it.

This post has been created a month ago, thought I should really tidy up before my blog slowly vanishes from my thoughts.

I blame it all on long hours at work, lousy internet at home, the World cup. Right.. everything but my laziness. LoL

It was just any other Tuesday, until Nathan - Manager of Sultan Lounge, walked to my desk, and asked if I was doing anything tonite, No, he wasn't asking me out. He handed me 2 passes to the premiere of Sex and The City 2 ! Skyy Vodka did a launching of the movie in Sultan Lounge about 2 weeks ago, hence the 2nd invitation from them. The invitation said 7pm, Pavilion KL. Wahida and I hurried through our work, and intended to leave work at 6.15pm sharp. We made it on time at 7pm, just to find out that the movie was actually showing at 9pm, it's a cocktail reception from 7-9pm. Darned.. we could have left work a lil later, and perhaps drive over from the hotel? Oh well, still, it was good to leave work early for once !
We helped ourselves to the free flow cocktail, special concoctions made from juices and Skyy Vodka - the official Vodka for SATC 2. They served the same cocktails that they did at Sultan Lounge the other day, but less fancy this time. I don't have a picture of them but I found the following link, and my fave is Carrie & Samantha !

After sipping several glasses of cocktail, we are all ready to indulge in the comfort of Gold Class seats, and enjoy the much awaited movie of the year. Too bad we can't bring along the cocktails!

Btw, here's the recipes...

Glamour Girl – Carrie -
2 oz. SKYY Vodka, 0.5 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice, 0.5 oz. Fresh Lime Juice, 0.5 oz. Simple Syrup or 1 Tsp. Sugar
Rim a martini glass with Crème de cassis and sugar. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into the martini glass. Finish the cocktail with a drop of Crème de cassis on top.

Fabulous Flirt – Samantha
1.5 oz. SKYY Vodka, 1 oz. Fresh Orange Juice, 1/2 oz Simple Syrup or 1 Tsp. Sugar, 1 Lemon Squeeze, 5 Raspberries
Squeeze and drop lemon squeeze into a cocktail shaker. Add raspberries, SKYY Vodka, orange juice and simple syrup/sugar with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a martini glass. Squeeze lemon disk over drink skin side out to spritz cocktail – then bend and drop into drink. Garnish in addition with a raspberry lightly dusted with powdered sugar on pick.

Busy Beauty – Miranda
2 oz. SKYY Vodka, 3 Red Grapes, 2 Basil Leaves, 0.5 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice, 0.75 oz. Simple Syrup or 1 Tsp. Sugar
Muddle grapes and basil leaves in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add SKYY Vodka, lemon juice and simple syrup/sugar with ice and shake vigorously. Double strain into a chilled martini glass, and garnish with a basil leaf on the surface of the drink.

Pretty Princess – Charlotte
1.5 oz. SKYY Vodka, 3 oz. Lemon Lime Soda, 1 Lemon Squeeze, 0.25 oz. Red Wine
Squeeze and drop lemon squeeze into a cocktail shaker with SKYY Vodka and lemon lime soda. Fill cocktail shaker with ice and stir. Strain into a tall Collins glass with fresh ice. Float red wine over top of drink as garnish. Serve with a skinny black straw.

Mr New York – Mr Big
2 oz. SKYY Vodka, 0.5 oz. Wild Turkey 101, 0.75 oz. Cola, 2 bar spoons of Maraschino Cherry Juice
Combine SKYY Vodka, Wild Turkey Bourbon, cherry juice and cola into cocktail shaker with ice and stir. Pour into a double rocks glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Weddings and more

Just got home from Khairil's wedding. It was a lovely reception, and a rather different concept as to what you would usually see at a Malay wedding reception. It was a seat down dinner at Balai Felda, and it wasn't a free seating dinner like most Malay receptions. I was seated at the France table with all the other ex-colleagues from ME. The ceremony did not start till bout 9pm, when the dashing groom walked in with his lovely bride in a suit and the most gorgeous evening gown. Darn, now I wished I brought my camera. I have known Khairil for bout 4 years now, worked together in ME for 1 year plus, and then the one month in FL. Am so happy to see him and his sweetheart tie the knot.
(Attended Zaleha's wedding too, it was yesterday at Dewan Taman Keramat. Took some pictures of the lovely couple, and her beautiful cake! Will find time to upload them.)

Been attending quite a few wedding receptions this year, or rather since the end of last year.
And as usual, the norm is when people start asking " When's your turn?". Am more than happy to brush off that question by saying, " one day ya.." or my usual reply to my mom" You slowly wait lar" But gee, it never really got to me till tonight, when I looked at Khairil walk down the aisle with his lovely bride, can't help feeling happy for him as I recall his stories of their ups and down. It affects me more when I think of it that way, about how two person has made it through so much, and finally the wedding day comes. Am just feeling a wee bit emotional tonight.
Oh, I'll just go to bed.

Nite out with the girls and mommy-to-be

Met up with the girls for dinner, the party is again incomplete as HZ is working outstation, but this time, we had new an extra company, it's Mommy Bong and Daddy Alan, to be that is , lil Kimberly will be joining us in August ! We are all pretty excited to to welcome her to our world, and add her to our ji-mui group.

Brought the girls to Sg Buloh for dinner as Bong was craving for crabs, and we know better than to stop a pregnant woman from having it her way. However, it was utter disappointment when we were informed that the crabs have been sold out for the day due to the high rate of diners that night. Nevertheless, we ordered prawns, fish and squids. The food didnt take that long to arrive, and as usual, it was pretty good. Had a good time catching up, gossiping, and cam-whoring, was almost 11 when we decided to leave the restaurant.

After much driving around, we decided on a second round at Kota Damansara, a non alchoholic session of course. We ended up at Wong Kok Char Chan Teng, since it was belated celebration for PC's birthday, we were entitled to the huge glass of milk tea. It was way past Mommy Bong's bedtime when we finally left the place and head home. I pulled myself together to write this piece before throwing myself on to my lovely bed.

Utterly disappointed..

Seriously, every time I thought I could depend on it, it fails me terribly.. It took me almost 2 hours to get home.. wait, let me rephrase it, after 1hr and 45mins, I was still in the train, at KL station. It got warmer by the minute, and a baby's crying across the platform did not make me feel any better. I was really at the edge of leaving the train, and catching a cab home. It was almost midnight for god's sake ! and to think that i left my office at 9.30pm.

Good thing, FBIL came to my rescue !! Came and picked me from the railway station, and dropped me home ! woo hoo... When we drove past Segambut, another train was stranded at the station.. I cannot imagine if I stayed on, I would prob NEVER get home. I got knocked off immediately, and treasured every minute of my sleep then.

Happy Wesak Day and it's my off day !! Wheee.. only got home bout 11.45pm last night, and whizzed off to yumcha near my place. The thought of not having to wake up early today, is such a blessing. As I was given a lovely treat at Wasabi Bistro @ MO, I was too stuffed to take any sorta supper, ok I managed 1 stick of satay.* Lolz*
Didn't get home till bout 2am, and I went straight to bed.
After brunch, we set off to Brem Mall, the initial plan was to watch Nanny McPhee, though sissy insisted on watching Shrek 4ever after, majority rules. But as we got to the top of the queue, to our dismay, they weren't showing Nanny McPhee. :( So we got tix for Prince of Persia instead, and a popcorn combo. We got pretty alright seats, tho Abby's was squeaking all the way, annoying the couple next to me. But hey, it's not like we are doing it on purpose rite?

Ok, back to the movie, it was a rather ok movie, I personally don't think Jake Gylenhaal is cut out for an action packed movie, I enjoyed the scenes where he swinged from one roof to the other tho. Well, it was a pretty entertaining movie, and not going in with high expectations would help too!

Girls Nite Out

It was a rare weekend that HZ didnt have to work, so plans were made, and we girls decided to paint the town red! For once, we imposed the no jeans rule, and made it a point to get all dressed up for the night. We chose The Curve for convenience and the bigger variety of food outlets. Blaming it on the traffic, and excessive time required to get ready, we all got to The Curve at 8.30pm. After crossing a few options, we settled down in TGI Fridays for dinner, followed by a lil camwhoring. We had a good 2 hours of talking and catching up on each others' life. Spent a good amount of time discussion other ppl's life too ! Haha.. It's been a long while since we've met, that's why.

Round 2 was at The Library - with the 'great' service, we ordered our drinks after 30 mins in our seat. We settled on half pint of beer each - decided that the cocktails here are too diluted for the value. Again, we chatted, played cards and sang along to the band, until we all decided that we need a Round 3, and some loud music to for us to dance along. So we paid the bill, and left for Sanctuary.

Round 3 - Went back to Sanctuary, with EJ and his friend joining, we decided to open a bottle, as it was more worth it than getting separate drinks. So we partied on till the club closed at 3am. Only got home about 4+, had to sit down a while, to let the alco subside. Totally passed out on my bed, and didnt wake up till 10am the next day. What a night, it's been a long time since I had so much to drink.

The much awaited weekend is finally here ! Been looking forward to it all week, after the WIEF rush, and 2 working saturdays, it's finally my off day! Made plans for a movie and shopping in MidValley with Abby and Coco. Mommy didnt want to come along, so we had breakfast with her in Menjalara first.

Oh, we watched Bounty Hunter. Can't miss Jennifer Aniston and Gerald Butler, both of them being one my all time favourites. The movie turned out to be slightly different from what I expected though, I was thinking that it''s another light chick flick movie, but it turned out to have quite a bit of action in there. Pretty good watch still.

Girls being girls, we love shopping trips, and sales of cos ! Jusco was having a pretty good sale, so we all ended up buying something. And I got this dress from Nichi, which I had set my eyes on last month. and a new pair of heels to add to my collection. Oh, not forgettng the new bottle of foundation, and blush. Came home feeling so contented.

The week with no 'n'

That means no weekend lar.. I worked till 10pm last night, and every other night of this week. Am not complaining about my job, but seriously, am so shattered this week. The amount of stress, work and havoc at work is taking a toll on me, as I am down with a cold. Good thing that I have been resting at home today, my only rest day.

Just got back from dinner with my dearest family, and the new family member of course. She is Coco. No, she is not a new pet we got. She is the petite lil girl, that came into my brother's life and brightened up his day like no amount of sunlight could. You get the picture. They are so in lurveeee. Good for him! I'm happy for him too.

Tomorrow is yet another work day, I am so looking forward to the end of the week already, when the madness will stop.. Please let this week come by without the shit hitting the ceiling ! A line I learnt from my boss.Lolz

A stolen moment

It's Saturday, and it's supposed to be my off day, but yet I was at work. And the best thing was, I went to work, then stole a few hours to watch a movie with Yi Ling, and then back to work till bout 8.30pm. Yesterday was a long day at work, so much to prepare for WIEF next week. It's the World Islamic Economic Forum, being held at KL Convention Centre, we are hosting a few adhoc events, and doing the accomodation. It's all work and work.

Made plans to hang out with Yi Ling to catch up since I have not seen her in donkey years, bought movie tickets in Pavilion, due to time constraints, we decided on " Diary of a Wimpy Kid", I never really liked watching a movie without knowing the synopsis.. but for the sake of catching a movie and catching up on girlie time, bring it on... The movie turned out to be pretty entertaining, and the this group of kids sat next to us, got so excited about the movie that one of them yelled out " Don't eat the cheese!" You have to watch it to get the joke !

After the movie, we walked around Pavilion, it's been ages since we came here together. Back then when we were both in ME, it's a regular do for us, to do movie and dinner in Pavi. Then the sad part came, I went back to work at 5.30pm. There were so many work to do, to prepare for the following week, and I hate having a busy Monday.. so I rather have a late Saturday. I left office about 8+, spent a good amount of money on sushi from Isetan, and got home.

TGIF !

It's Friday! TGIF ! Coincidentally, that's where we went for a late dinner. Patricia and I met up in KLCC for a CK launch, had our glass of wine and canapes, checking out the new items on the shelf. Sounds like a girly Friday night! Until GS came along, and swept us off to Bukit Bintang*he needed a night out, point taken*. Though we parked the car in the dodgy KL Plaza's parking, we ended in flashy Pavilion for dinner. And for the first time in so long, the man decided took charge of the orders, so Pat and I sat back and enjoyed the food.

We all decided that we need a good drink, and headed to Changkat Bukit Bintang. After all the walking on our high heels, we settled down in Havana. Yup, right at the very end of the street. We had a good time talking and laughing about our lives, people around us, money making ideas, Hacks*winks*, and a toast to our 10 years of friendship! *Clink*

It was almost 2 when we decided to leave, as the Dr. is on call tomorrow, long hours ahead for him. Dropped Patricia back and we got home about 3am.I went straight to bed, smiling, thinking of what a fun night we all had.

I have been away for so long, blame it all on work and the unstable Streamyx connection back at home. And of course, the author - Me.

On a mad hectic Friday, I was brought out to wine and dine at Sage, a lovely restuarant on the rooftop of Gardens Hotel and Residences. It was a delightful way to end the week, as it hass been madness and full of nasty suprises. Thanks dear for the treat.

I believe many has written about this restaurant, and what I would be writing is far from the great reviews of fellow floggers. And since I did not have my camera with me, would not be doing any justice to Chef's creation of the night. (Well, we do have some shots of the scrumptious meal, but they need a little TLC from Picasa before they can be revealed.) We both settled for the Sage Set Dinner, which comprised of an appetizer, a main course, and dessert of course. We had a hard time deciding, but we finally made up our minds. We had a glass of red and white wine. Red for his Angus steak and Sauvignon Blanc for my fish.

After taking our orders, we sat back and enjoyed the lovely ambience of the restaurant, chatting over warm bread and basil pesto dip. They brought us the amuse-bouche of the night, ( a lil flavourful bite to amuse your palate, a French term pronounced as a-myuz-bush). It was a lovely cream of asparagus, with lil bits of raw scallops, and topped with fish roe,served in a shooter glass and a tea spoon.

Our wine came, and then followed by our interesting starters, I had the Seared foie-gras with grapes, and JM had the Truffled oil porcini mushroom cream. Well, there were other starters that souded very appealing, but I thought I'll find out what foie-gras is all about. First bite... mmm... interesting...and yum.... as I go on to second and third bite..urm, dear, you can have it all. I think it takes an acquried taste, as many has complimented on the heavenly and creamy texture of foie gras, so it's just me I guess. The cream of porcini was creamy and very well flavoured. A wise choice!

The main courses came shortly after we have cleared our plates - Angus beef with mashed potatoes, and Grilled seabass with king prawn. I was quite glad I did not order the rack of lamb as I took the first bite of my fish, I knew I am in the mood for seafood that night! The fish was cooked to perfection, with a bit of crisp on the skin and served with a king size prawn, and baby pak choy.Flakes of the succulent fish, dipped in the very interesting wakame sauce, I finished every morsel of it ! Of course, I did share, and let JM try some of my dish. :) My choice of Marlborough Sauvignon blanc, complemented the seabass very well. Reminds me of the many bottles I had back in NZ.

As we finished our meal, we were all ready and excited to order our dessert, I finally decided on the Earl Grey ice-cream against the Peach melba sorbet. I love sorbets and especially fruity ones, but my liking for tea flavoured ice cream prevailed that night. JM ordered a hazelnut souffle with chocolate ice-cream.My my, what a sinful treat for the night. And of course a cup of freshly brewed coffee to capped it off for the night. It was really, a lovely dinner, a treat to my horrible long day.
Hmm.. at the rate of my workload, I'll probably need these treats once a week ! *hint hint*

Pasta Bolognaise

Mom is away on a holiday, and we have been eating out on most nights. Last night, I rummaged through the fridge and I found - a slab of pork, carrots, and onions. Just the right ingredients to cook bolognaise sauce, so that was what I did for lunch today. As I look in the pantry, I found conchiglie, spirals and penne. Penne being my least favourite type of pasta, I've decided to finish that up first. My aunt who came back from Canada for a holiday, gave that bag of penne to me. Given a choice, I will never ever buy penne !

Tomorrow is my first Saturday off ! It's been a month since I joined Mandarin Oriental, and they have got a policy where the newcomer has to work on their first four Saturdays. AM so used to working 6 days a week for the past one month, it's such a nice treat to have tomorrow off ! Am not doing anything special, will really like to do my laundry first thing in the morning. Then, maybe I'll catch a movie and do some window shopping. Yay!

For now, I'll catch up on some beauty sleep, was actually in bed by 10.30pm, but had to wake up and sort out some matters and thought I'll just stay up and update my blog a bit.

Backdated: Shamala's wedding

It's been a while since I posted anything, blame it on work. Not entirely the reason, it just seems easier to say that. Well it's not entirely wrong tho, as I do find myself absolute shattered at the end of the day, thus I cannot muster the energy to write and post up pictures. Been falling asleep in front of my desk while harvesting my crops on FV,( yes, it's my trademark to fall asleep on my desk). And lately, the weather is just horribly warm and humid, its almost like you can't sit still and not sweat.

Anyways, last Saturday, I attended a ex-classmate's wedding, have decided to be festive and drape myself in a saree ( Traditional Indian Costume). My sister having worn that for a function, tied the saree for me, and I thought it looked pretty alright. Until I went to the ladies at the wedding function - the pleats were all messy when I stepped out of the cubicle. In my vain attempt to straighten my saree, two elderly women spotted me and offered help. They basically stripped me off the few metres long material, and draped me all over again. Yes, in the ladies it was. That was quite a sight, a Chinese girl standing helplessly in the washroom, and having 2 other women dress me up! They did it so quickly and I looked so much in place after that. What else? Bring out the cameras, it's not everyday that I wrap myself up in a fancy costume. Here's a picture of Patricia and I. We go way back to high school, where we were partners in crime, and used to talk about 'our friends'. Am hoping to go on a trip with her at the end of this year, Cambodia probably.

Interesting Saturday

A phone call came at 1pm, and the next thing I know, I was on my way to Sepang F1 circuit. My friend had an extra ticket to Grandstand seats, and it was a good opportunity as I will NEVER spend RM800 for a F1 ticket.

It was a good thing that I happened to have brought my pair of flip-flops and my jeans skirt, if not I would be watching the race in my office wear ! That would be really out of place. This year, the atmosphere was a complete opposite to my first experience at the Sepang circuit. Back in 2008, it was scorching HOT, but this year, it was windy and drizzling. Seated at the grandstand, we both got wet and cold from the windy storm( well, EJ was cold, not me. LoL). All in all, it was an exciting experience. Don't have any pictures to document my exp as I didn't have any cameras with me !

Friday Night Out - Clash of the Titans

Though I have to work on Saturday, I was still looking forward to Fri night ! Friday nights are meant to be a sigh of relieve, as the work week is finally coming to an end, and marks the beginning of the weekends !

Last night, I was out for dinner and a movie. Had dinner @ Kim Gary, and finally, am able to use my Jcard for a 5% discount ! I remember the last outing at Kim Gary with Mandy and PC, we talked about how silly it was to have a KG member's card when you can only use it on weekdays ! So neither one of us applied for one. Back to last night, I had the Spicy Korean noodles with Sliced Beef. It was basically instant noodles with beef slices and topped with a fried egg. Taste wise? Ok lor.

We also ordered the Baked Mushrooms with Double cheese... It was urgh. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone at all, it is not at all like your usual cheese baked vegetables. It was more like assorted mushrooms swimming in cheesey sauce. Wished I took a picture of it. After dinner we headed to Signature Cinemas @ Gardens for our movie. Woo hoo, we've got a comfy twin seat to Clash of the Titans! It was a fairly good movie to watch, packed with action and a twist of love story. But I personally felt that they rushed the ending, it's either that or I must have snooze off ! Well, if you enjoy reading about the ancient Greek Gods, familiar to Zeus and his many rendezvous, this is a good watch as this is about one of his sons - Perseus.

Once home, I didn't get to bed till about 2am. I was up watching an episode of Ugly Betty ! Maybe it's the thought of working half day on a Saturday that kept me up and awake. :)

A lovely suprise

It was just another day at work, early morning briefing, the usual rush in the office, the few very loud discussion across the room due to last minute changes in the events. Definitely not a special occasion. That thought had to be changed when a colleague from concierge walked in the office with a lovely bouquet. He walked right past the sales floor and towards our desks. I was on the phone taking an enquiry from a potential client, busy scribbling away. Paying no attention to the flowers as I assumed it was for my colleague in front of me, as it was her birthday. Only when the man walked past everyone (my desk is at the very end of the room), stopped at my desk and waited for me to put down the phone, I realised it was for me. Colleagues were going ooo, aah about the sender. But I knew just who exactly it was from, before I read the card. Seeing my direct line on the receipt, I knew that I was conned few days ago. Thanks dear, for sending me this lovely bouquet, the one that never made it to my desk at ME :) Such a sweet thought.

Girls Day Out - How to Train Your Dragon

From the moment I watched the trailer for this animation, I knew I have to watch this movie ! And so I did. Since Alicia was back for the weekend, a girls day out would be good. Woke up at 9am despite having just 5 hours of sleep, got my laundry and chores done, and off to One Utame we went.

Had our lunch at Subway, yum...and walked around till our movie time. From the moment the show started, it was all a good watch till the end. I personally felt that there was a balance amount of laughter, action and suspend, being an emotional one, there was a part that nearly got my eyes to well up in tears. I shall not reveal any spoilers for you, if you are a fan of animation, and totally dig Scottish accent. YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT !!

The only people I've heard of in the voiceover casts was Gerard Butler and American Ferrera, so if you have not google the movie already, then try to listen out for them. There was another character in the show which has the cutest Scottish accent ever - Gobbler (voice of Craig Ferguson). Reminded me so much of my friend Jack whom I met in Queenstown last year. Lurve it when he goes "No worrrries". Ahh.. I love Englishmen and their accent. muahahah.

Now back to the show, it was probably the best movie I've watched this year, so far. Wouldn't mind catching it again in 3D ( too bad they weren't showing that on Sunday).

Greattt Weekend

For some reason, I felt that last week gone past in a zoom. Hmm, would that be the right expression? Week 2 at work was quite a breeze and I'm slowly picking up things around the office, including that my skirt was a bit wee too short, and I need not wear a collared shirt under my jacket. Great ! Saves me from ironing any ! The week gone past, and came the weekend. Initially, I was looking forward to a quiet weekend at home, having the mentality that I have only have a one-day weekend. But then, the social side of me needs to get out and meet some ppl, so I was out all weekend !

After a half day work on Sat, I was out with Mom and her friend from Taiwan. Had to wave goodbye to the plan of bringing her up the skybridge after checking out the massive crowd at 7.30am, and I thought I was early! So we brought her around to visit her old school, SM Confucian, and then made a stop at both our house + grandma's.

Had a dinner appointment in the evening, it's been a while since I've seen this friend, so I went along for dinner with his friends at Alexis, Ampang. Recently I've been rather skeptical about meeting new ppl ( yes, some of you might find it weird to hear me say this), but all his friends were nice and fun, and sissy tagged along last minute. For dinner, I picked something from the menu, which had a rather interesting description. It was Angelhair Aglio Olio - served with grilled yabbies. A yabby is a name given in Australia to two different kinds of crustaceans. (Wikipedia). It was a lil costly, but it was worth trying.

After dinner, we went over to Zeta Bar @ KL Hilton for drinks and dancing. We did not get home until about 1am. It was a good night out, have not done this for a while.

My one-day weekend

It's 5pm, that means my Sunday is coming to an end already. I appreciate weekends a bit more since I have to work on Saturdays now. Yesterday was pretty eventful, I got to work at 7.15am, yup, you got me right there. Headed to the staff kitchen, and was determined to have a good breakfast, unfortunately nothing appealed to me. It was difficult cos I was hungry and wanted some food to start my day!! Then Chef Tammie came to the rescue when I asked her if she serves cereal, and she gave me Milo pops ! That was the best way to start my day, am definitely going to ask her for cereal everyday.. and probably that way, I could lose some kilos.

After work, I popped over to KL Convention Center, there was a Asia Trader & Investor Convention. Don't get me wrong, I do NOT have the money to invest, was there to investigate! I was reading through the invitation that they sent me, and saw a familiar face on the speakers' profile. Was determined to find out if this speaker from MIMB was my Management lecturer n-years ago, and since I had a free ticket to the expo, why not! Anyways, I left the expo without a definite answer, but a guy from MIMB told me that Dr.Nazri was indeed a lecturer before he joined the bank.

Took a slow walk over to Sg Wang, was suprised to find the post office was still open, apparently they close at 6pm on Saturdays. Got the required stamps and it's all set to be mailed. (Watch out for the postman hun!) The mission to seek for a pair of comfy and presentable shoes for travelling to work failed. Saw this stall outside Sg Wang, they were selling fake Crocs ( probably real ones, but simply 'escaped' the lorry bringing them to the real Crocs store. Lolz
Didnt get home till about 5pm, and was whisked out for a drink by bro cos 2nd uncle +family was down in KL. We had a quick bite at Happy City foodcourt, am pretty suprised by the crowd and the quality of the food there. Will definitely make another trip there.

Was totally shattered when I got home at 6+, decided against the banana leaf dinner appointment.. Sorry to @dapest ! After showers, I collapsed on my bed, and it was a long nap before I woke up at 11.30pm.. for a light but late dinner. Haha. Then I watched Time Traveler's Wife with sissy. Ooh, Eric Bana was so hot in the movies, especially when he time travelled.*winks*

Today is a total relaxation, did chores, cooked, watch Paranormal Activity on DVD, it was.. urmm.. weird. It was more like documentary rather than a movie, and if I was in the cinema, I would be very tempted to walk out cos it was just boring. Hrmm... speaking bout the cinemas, I think it'll be a long time till I have time for a movie.. unless I wanna watch with the huge crowd on Sundays.

Day 1 . Survived

It's only Day 1 and I can't feel my toes already.
Borned with a really huge pair of feet, encased in a pair of Size 8 pointed court shoes for 10 hours, that's catastrophe.

It has been a long but interesting day at work, especially enjoyed the tour around the hotel. Was brought up to the Presidential Suite, it is really a jaw-dropping experience. Forgive my 'jakun-ness' , but I have never ever seen such a luxurious suite, and HUGE one too. They have a grand piano in the hall mind you! The spacious bathroom is equipped with a tub,a jacuzzi, sauna, a huge glass showers, and an exercise bike. Spacious is almost an understatement when you can comfortably stand 10 person in the showers itself ! Hrmm, this is definitely not a good way to promote the hotel. Will write a proper post for it. Other than that, it has been a good day of training, had a chance to try the hotel's buffet, and I must say, their service is impeccable! I've also received a set of jacket and skirt, and was shown to my desk. The desk that I'll be spending long hours at. Hehe.

Well for now, I'm going to create a record. Turning in before midnite for the first time in 2010! Woo hoo.
